Oh crud! He's talking about stupid DLC's! No. Wait no DLCs aren't always bad, sometimes they're done wrong, I'll admit, but a really good DLC will vastly improve the game rather than just adding random crap.
Yes they might not make a pay for DLC, but they might make a free update or something and even then there's a chance for them to go back on it or put it in the future game. this thread is still about what could be changed.

Perhaps something everyone actually wants in the game or something missing from previous titles, maybe fixing soem big issue with the game currently.

Compiling a list, I'm sure there's enough things like this. This is just the kind of things I'd like to see in a DLC or even just an update if generous enough. That'd be nice. Being 2nd on the UK charts, though, they'd probably make it pay for DLC instead.

Rock removal
I'm pretty sure everyone wants this more than anything. Nothing is more annoying than those damn rocks upsetting a clear path or in the new case, making them worse, stopping you from building things where you like. Just being able to remove the little nuisancess would vastly improve the game in customisability, and frankly, I have no freaking clue why this isn't included right now.

It's not even a big issue if no rocks are left, the money rock is only really useful in the begnning so just one or no rocks is hardly a game changer!

And for those of you who don't like this idea, just don't use it. This let's people who DO want it use it.

Moving current buildings
Not gonna lie this has, pretty much a similar idea to it as rock removable. This would include all of your prublic works, so you don't have to annoyingly spend two days removing and re-adding something in a new position. Plus it can alleviate the annoyance some people might have with projects that can't be removed anyway.

This would also inclue animal houses. But obviously they're not just gonna LET you move them, maybe. Having a strong friendship and maybe bribing them should allow them to be okay with moving their house, however, the camping site will be required for their hosue to move. You can also move your own house. Why not, right? I mean it's not like you might regret where you put your house or anything sicne it's your first time, right? /sarcasm

Also, since you might not want your villager to move out, this can also be an alternetive especially since you'd already be friendly with them. Let's call it an improvement of the making-them-move-out-formula.

Bring back constellations
Straight from wild world, though probably not in the same way for a basic reason. The sky doesn't seem to "work" or "look" the same way, so I'd suggest just being able to form faint drawing in the night sky instead. You can connect to dots, or do a drawing kind of constellation.

One other idea I've had though is to also allow you to draw on the moon itself! Not sure how it'd be accomplished but it'd bring some crazy and fun ideas like a Majora's Mask moon or even just a plain ol' smiley face.
Lawn mower / grass seeds
This is probably a personal preference more than anything but I think artificial sign paths to be kinda ugly, so I prefer to just create more natural paths. However it's hard to use the natural grass, wearing down, thing, and some patches of dirt always remain AS dirt. A mower (be it a portable "pole" type one, or a car type one you push around, whatever) would eliminate grass easier but slowly if you want a a wasteland or natural paths. Additionally though, kinda hurting for a better way to make grass appear, and some spaces are always dirt, which sucks and is REALLY unecessary. Something like grass seeds would be great for making this less of an issue, especially if they're allowed to grow on "always dirt" patches. Just let us be able to do more with our grass, please!

Relive the past from within the game and rewrite history
To explain further, some people didn't know to press L and R to take screenshots, and they'll never get a chance to screenshot the time they became mayor or when they were in the train. So maybe some sort of Katrina special to remember previous events would help some people out.

Additionally, reliving the past of being in the train would allow you to rename yourself and the town, but the town layout will not be affected at all. In the most extreme case though, you might even be able to redo your face (though I'm sure most people are okay with their face) Of course, you could also just do renaming from within the mayors office.

Moving to another town (really just generating a new one with less bad stuff happening)
In New Leaf there are more reasons you might want to consider remaking your town, perhaps even with the new DLC things I listed. And though that does a pretty good job you want a fresh new town, a new layout but let's face it. Redoing everything si really really REALLY bad. So much progress lost! So just "moving" into another town, and keeping everything in your locker could alleviate some of the loss.

Additionally, you could maybe "save" your previous town onto the SD card, or another SD card, so you can always go back. Another feature might be to get nook to build you a house imemdiately, but only upgraded to a certain point (perhaps halfway).
The only problem with this is continuity because it'll have the same NPCs (except villagers)... Which is, probably broken by everyone having the same assitant, Nook, etc.. It shouldn't really make you less imemrsed though. Being able to move for a continuity error is my kind of trade off.

Yeah since there'd be a continuity error with you being MAYOR, it'd probably be best for it to be a soft town reset.

Furniture sets of different rooms
This is something that kind of irks me. Almost all the sets are more or less for living rooms. I'd really like to see semi-seperate sets for say, "Blue" to "Blue Kitchen" or "Green Kitchen", perhaps only some sets get a specific new room though, I figure Green doesn't go well for bathrooms. If HRA is an issue, why not specific set furniture not clashing with a kitchen set version? So for example, tables and chairs, but you need a specific "Blue Tile" for the kitchen instead of "Blue Carpet". Stuff like that.

Of course, I'm not saying, uh, only Blue and Green. Most sets could probably work like this. I can even see Golden being well and able getting Golden bathrooms pieces. I wanna sit on a gold toilet, darnit! (Hehe and maybe the Mario Set could have a smaller toilet pipe to sit on)

More Public Works of a specific look
I feel that the amount of "Fairy Tail" or "Modern" publock work designs is slightly lacking. Why not a Fiayr Tale fountain or well, for example? That could work! Additionally there aren't really many styles to begin with, though it could be difficult implementing new styles. One simple way to alleviate this could simply by starting with paint styles for your benches, train stration, etc though those might only work on the basic (not fairy tale, modern, etc) styles. Well, I figure it might work a bit on Japanese styled things.

Perhaps a few styles I could think of are Cowboy/western, Kiddie (toy world, woo), futuristic. The list could go on.

Anyway I'm out of ideas, so feel free to post any you might have.

I'd totally pay for rock removal. :p My new town's layout is perfect, except for the rocks.

Would be nice but Nintendo already stated no paid DLC

I am not a fan of any DLC on any game or system anymore., I hate paying for "nothing". If I cant get a hard copy to hold in my hands then I tend not to buy it. I've been burned to many times in the past by paying for something that is only data and then later losing it and not being able to get it back for one reason or another. (Nintendo has burned me on the Wii with classic games, and Microsoft has burned me on the 360 with arcade games and DLC for Mass Effect and Fable)

If its free I'll download it, but they aren't getting anymore of my money for nothing.

We don't need dlcs. We don't need "grass regrowth" and we don't need to remove any rocks? How come it's only the animal crossing fans that constantly moan about certain features they dislike? You don't see people on a Pokemon forum complaining about an inconvenient feature in a pkmn game? If everybody could just create and decide where everything's placed in a town then animal crossing would get boring VERY fast. Anyway, as for the things mentioned:

Rocks are in the game to make your town look more like a natural environment, rather than a fake field of hundreds of flowers, bushes and trees. Next thing you'll be complaining about how inconvenient it is to build around ponds and rivers. Quit yappin!

This isn't sim city! We get to pick where we want to live so why can't our villagers? I'd rather my town look nicely spaced out instead of having however many buildings cramped up in a corner of my town. (Cause that's what most of you would do if you did have the chance to move houses, right?)

I never really saw the point in constellations so I'm not really bothered about it, having it would just be a bonus I guess...

Moving to another town? Totally pointless. YOU are in charge of your town. YOU decide what gets built and what doesn't. (Aside from villagers houses ofc) it's not like you're stuck with a totally random town at the start of the game? You can choose your town! You can customise it to its full potential. Having the feature to spawn a completely new town would just be unnecessary. It'd just encourage laziness and a "don't worry! If you've a screwed up then start again!" Message instead of conveying a more mature message of never giving up.

L and R can both be used for running, which I think is very convenient when you're playing island games. There are only a number of controls you can have before you'll require an instruction manual on how to actually control the game instead of playing it.

Not necessary. If you payed attention then you would know that Isabelle teaches you all of the basic controls, which include how to take a picture.

I actually agree with you on the last two. But anyway, getting back to the original question; yes. I would pay for an Animal Crossing DLC. However, only if new content was added instead of (what everybody wants) already existing content to be removed or "fixed".

(Sorry for any mistakes, it's hard to type on my iPad.)

I'd like a DLC that lets Blathers talk about the donations again. I miss his prattling on about things. =<

Actually I hear people complain constantly about features and things in every game released and yes that includes pokemon. of course I work in a place that sells games so I encounter a lot of people across the board of gaming. But one thing is always true, it doesn't matter how great or well made the game is, there will always be something that somebody does not like. It is impossible for something to be made that will be perfect for everybody. And I see no problem with people venting about what they don't like, or wishing for alternatives.

I disagree with part of the Moving Buildings. For one thing, if you don't like where a house is built, you can make the animal move and someone new will come in, somewhere else.

Besides, you pick where you want your house in the beginning. What's the point of paying to move it again if you already picked a spot?

I'd buy DLC if it was new, not a build up or improved part of something else.

That's not what I meant. What I meant was that with Pokemon fans, the majority of them tend to acknowledge a fault and hope for change within the next game, whereas with this fan base we do the same, as well as constant complain complain and complain (to a point where it's questioned whether we would actually pay for our complaints to be serviced.) I understand we've been siting ever so long for New Leaf but come on! Most of the features above have been evident in the FIRST instalment of the game! You'd of thought that over 11 years we'd of learnt how to cope with a mere rock lol.

Fair enough, there are new players that don't like this feature. But it's the same as me entering a Pokemon fan base community and suggesting that we should get rid of the entire first generation of Pokemon!

I agree. Nothing is perfect and one day your wish might come true. It goes to show that lots of people(including me) have wanted to customize your character in Pokemon, and in Pokemon X and Y we can do that.

It's not DLC, it's not new content, it's just a brand new game that we all hope will be released. With any luck Nintendo will either:
1) Make downloadable/buyable DLC for problems like rocks in the AC series

2) Work on a completely new game with new features like a new tool that lets you move rocks or houses

But for now we just have to wait and see if they'll do anything with the problem.

I see your point and actually I do agree with your statements about how the game would be boring if you could alter everything precisely. and I usually just ignore the posts complaining about the same thing over and over again anyway.

Maybe AC fans are more critical because we only get one game per console/system. LOL After all we do all know that we wont see another AC game for years, and it will be for the Wii U. But we also should all know that Nintendo will never make DLCs that will basically allow us to 'hack' the game as it stands.

True. They'd probably just add a few "minor" edits to a new game so we will quit bothering them. I don't see why they never bothered to make a tool for rocks, considering it has always been a problem for players.

By the time a new AC game comes out a new console will have been released, probably so then, if we buy the console but no Wii U(if they release it on it) then we wait another few years for it to come out on our console. GOD. I don't have a Wii U and no plans to get one either.

Why does it seem no one has a clue as to what L and R do? they just don't "Take a screen shot"... They are used for running. It's very ergonomic for right handed and left handed people. Running with B can be a problem most of the time.

Good thread. Nice, well-thoughtout suggestions all around! Nintendo should push the envelope- give the fans what they want... OPTIONS.

I use my shoulder buttons as little as possible since they seem to always be the first buttons to wear out on the DS systems. But you are right they are multi-functional just like your directional pad does more than change view and move your arrow in the menus.

Depends what kind of DLC we're talking about here. If it's some regular looking clothes or furniture, forget it.

A Sonic costume, a new area to the town, more than 10 neighbors, some kind of amazing public works project? Now that I could get behind.

This game is such a delight, I love all the attention to detail such as Pelly's applause when I pay off a loan. The designers definitely intend for this game to last us a long while. And because I plan to play it for a year or longer, I see nothing wrong with adding new content either for free or as DLC. Let me daydream with you~ Two ideas that sound fun to me I'll call, "All Holidays" and "Pro Path Patterns."

All Holidays - Toggles holidays from other regions. Participating in holidays around the world would be fun and educational! I love how much I learn from browsing museum galleries in this game. Pascal already teaches us a bit about other cultures but it's in more of a landmark-oriented sort of way. One downside would be Isabelle closing city hall more frequently, halting public works progress, so I think the ability to toggle it would be best. *gasp!* Maybe it could be a new town ordinance?

Pro Path Patterns - I love how we can design individual sleeves and fronts and backs to clothing and they all get packaged up neat and tidy into one pattern slot. Imagine if we could do the same with paths! Fill out a template with all the variations (left border, lower-right corner, etc) and then they get bundled up into one pattern. As you place that pattern around town, the tiles change depending on if they are next to another tile of the same pattern.

Bonus pattern idea!
Adding an alpha, or a transparent "color" to the palette would be a game changer for designers. It would help paths blend more seamlessly with their surroundings no matter what color the grass is this season. It would also make for more flexibility in clothing designs as you won't need to worry about manually selecting the right skin color for a tanned character. I would definitely pay extra to see that feature added in. First thing I would make with it? The Emperor's New Clothes, of course. >:D
