Uhhgg

All that I can say is there are stupid kids onthe internet who think death threats will work and not help his case....either that or he is lying.

But honestly when it comes down to it it is up to the parents. They provide the rating which is as much as any movie does and if a parent buys their kid it it is their fault not the companies for makng entertainment for an audience which can handle it.

I agree with what that guy is saying.
Which
Jack Thompson, there have been two extremely violent school-shootings in Minnesota, and GTA isn't helping.
It might not help but it isn't like kids have never been violent before it.

I still say it stems to how they are raised and is ultimately the fult of either the parent or the kid is
a. nuts.
b. just naturally violent.
c. It could also be caused by hazing and bullying in school. That can truely make a kid hate someone enough to kill them.

I think the media has more effect on the kids than the parents themselves, and GTA is an example of how little people do to stop children from seeing the things that they shouldn't. It disgusts me that pornography was knowingly sold in the game, I don't care if it was hacked so that it could be accessed, it was still in the game.

Now I agree that the porno thing was too much, and kinda, well why would you do that?

but you can't judge an industry on one game, may be the company that made it but not the whole industry.

And the media does have an impact, many just don't see it. Oprah alone can make or break a book with so much as a mumble. and Newscasters bend the truth for their ratings benifit.

Of coarse the media is responsible for many things, but in the end you control what you do, you have the final yes or no vote in what you do. I might sound weird for saying this but if you choose to do evil, you will get it in the end. But there is nothign wrong with a little fictional violence every once in a while.

I'll never judge the industry by one game and that is where Jack Thompson is terribly wrong.

The person who finally decides what you do is you, but the people who finally decide what you choose to do is everyone, to some extent. I've heard of people who have killed their family just to see what would happen. Morals are not developed in the same way in everyone, and nearly all children today lack them. Feeding this stuff to them is not a very safe thing to do. >__>

And besides, killing for the heck of it? I can understand that, I love Halo 2, and that game is focused largely on killing. But when you take the essence of strategy out of shooters and replace it with bloodlust, that's when it gets disgusting.

Well, Jack Thompson had a good beginning, but later got out of control. Especially when he wanted to ban a specific Sims 2 code... I can fully understand why he wanted to put an AO mark on GTA and/or put Take Two out of business, and I actually back up that decision. The industry is being judged harshly because the bestselling games OF the industry are mostly crappy urban shooters, or GTA rehashes.

That is why Jack Thompson decided to judge the industry as a whole, because the best-selling games are easily those that have a T rating or up. Not only because of that, but because sometimes, some wackos want to recreate what they did in GTA, and that doesn't exactly lead to peaceful consiquences.

It is really crazy. He said in the link that they should get rid of all voilent video games in homes when we have smoking everywhere. I would rather play a voilent video game then smoke anyday.

And Disney is probably the worst of the media. I think they will one day end up like the Bell Company...hopefully.
