♡ Welcome to my Tie-dye thread!! ♡

I've decided to make my own thread to show off my tie-dye creations! I'm a big fan of making tie-dye clothes, and though I don't currently have a station in my house where I can tie-dye fabrics, I'll definitely be updating this thread when Spring/Summer rolls around and I do make something!

This coming Summer I'm planning on working on many projects. I love looking at different ideas online and I have a bunch that I'd like to try out! I can't wait to make some stuff and show it to you guys!

Here's some projects which I made in June 2019 that I'd like to share:

This was my first attempt at a rainbow across the shirt. I actually got the shape right, which was great for my first try, but unfortunately for this batch I didn't have any soda ash to soak the shirts in so the dyes didn't hold in the shirt as well. I'm going to attempt this again next time I get the chance to make tie-dye shirts, because I absolutely love this design and I think it would look gorgeous in full color!
Instruction: For this shirt I pinched it on the bottom-right corner and carefully bunched it up in the shape of an arch. This would probably have been easier to do if I had drawn a guide line, but I decided to eyeball it instead. From there I used rubber bands to separate each section of color, and used the dye from there, being sure that the colors didn't bleed into each other too much.

This was another design that I attempted to replicate on a tie dye shirt. Unfortunately it doesn't look much like a flower ^^;
I'm not sure if I'm gonna try this again anytime soon. I might try it again once I'm more experienced with making tie-dye shirts.
Instruction: For this shirt I think I just pinched in the middle, picked up the shirt, and placed rubber bands around it for each separate section. Not a whole lot of effort went into this one.

This is my favorite of the set of shirts that I made (ofc because I'm a huuuuuge rainbow fanatic!). Even though the colors are more faded than I was expecting (again, I didn't soak the shirts in soda ash) I'm still super proud of it!!
Instruction: For this shirt, instead of doing the traditional spiral-from-the-middle, I pinched it on the left side and twisted it from there. It's a pretty interesting effect!

I know that the colors pink, purple, and turquoise always look really good together, so when making this shirt I decided to use those three colors. I wish it had less white on it, but I still really love this color combo!
Instruction: As is tradition, I made this spiral shirt by pinching in the middle and twisting counter-clockwise.

This shirt was the last one I made in this bunch. I had to use all my leftover dye, since I believe that dye is only good for about 72 hours after mixing with water. Nonetheless, I actually really like wearing this shirt quite a bit. It's my most oddball shirt and I think it matches my oddball personality lol :)
Instruction: For this shirt I simply pinched the bottom-right and top-left corners, made the shirt into a straight line, and put rubber bands to section off parts of the shirt, using the remaining colors that I had wherever. I think I attempted a sort-of "dark rainbow" schema here.

Anyways, that's all I have for now. Hopefully this Summer I'll get around to making some more stuff. I'm especially excited to attempt to tie-dye a sheet set for myself!! :-D

I super love your first attempt shirt, it looks like a rainbow in the sky! I haven't seen that type of design before so it looks really unique and cool :)

I still have no idea how Tie-Dying works (though I assume it has to do with tying... and then dying the shirt), but these are SO pretty!!!

v cool! I really like the turquoise spiral and random colored one =w=

Thanks for the compliments everyone! ~♡

Again it may be a while before I can actually update this thread with new pics but it'll be so exciting when I can!!

Bruh can I buy like all of them  Really nice work, I esp love the rainbow spiral and sunflower ones <3 :D

Wow!! These are so beautiful!! I bet you feel proud walking around wearing them! :D As you should feel!

If I had money, no joke, I'd buy' em off ya! Very nice!!

I finally got around to making some more tie-dye shirts!! I was planning on doing more but due to the pandemic I've been out of work since March and so I didn't want to spend my limited funds on tie-dye. So I ended up using the six bottles of dye that I had left from last year to make two shirts. They just came out of the dryer and they're lookin pretty wild!

for this one I wanted to try and get a squiggle effect by folding the shirt back and forth. unfortunately I tie-dyed it the wrong way and so they ended up as straight lines. I'm okay with that though, it still looks cool. It came out having a "box" effect.
Instruction: for this one I folded it long-ways into quarters, and then I folded it back and forth until I made a little cube. then I tie-dye it long-ways (instead of across).

I tried to create a Mandela pattern with this shirt but honestly the shirt was too small to effectively do it. this would have been easier with a really big shirt or even a top sheet. anyways, it came out looking pretty cool.
Instruction: I folded the shirt as one might fold a paper snowflake to cut out, and then I tied/dyed it diagonally, alternating angles.

it's too bad that for these two shirts I only had 5 colors to work with (three of them being different shades of red/pink) but I still like how they turned out.

If I can somehow manage to make a tie-dying station in my dorm room (which I'm gonna try to do, hopefully!) then I will probably be uploading here more frequently. it mostly depends on my budget and time. I'm also considering setting up some kind of online shop for people to buy tie-dye shirts from me, if I think I have the resources for it. though if I do that it's a ways off, but it's just a thought!

These look awesome!! I really want to get in to tie dye myself but I'm a bit intimidated at the moment. I tie dyed two shirts like 10 years ago (with the help of a teacher at school) and I still wear them all the time - they've kept their color very well which is crazy.
Do you use a kit or did you buy all the dyes and stuff separately?

those look super cool! i love the first one with the rainbow and also the mandela looks suuupperr pretty- almost looks like a watercolor wash or something!
i’ve never tie dyed before, but sometimes i’ll acid wash my darker shirts with bleach. most of the times they come out really cool, but it depends with what colors the shirt was dyed with!

whoa these look so cool!! tie-dye is legit one of my favourite things omg; i really like your first one! it’s so simple but i honestly really love it :0
