Cooking.

I want functional kitchens with equipment like stoves, fridges (that aren't just dressers), toasters, and cutting boards. I want to harvest fruit and honey from bees and bake them into beautiful pies and cakes. I want to grill fish outdoors by the campfire. I want to boil up a delicious turnip stew in the stewpot.

Each item you prepare could give you a certain benefit like running faster, healing you from bee stings, or curing sick villagers. The rarer the ingredients you use, the more benefits you receive. You could use them as decorative items, give them to villagers like treats in pocket camp, or just eat them yourself!

I kind of doubt we're going to see anything like this in the game, but it's a huge fantasy of mine and I'm holding out hope for it. Who knows though, we have seen something similar in the newest direct where eating an apple gave the player the ability to transport a tree.

What about you guys? Do you like the idea of a cooking system?

Omg you are so right. I would like this a lot actually. I mean...Pok?mon has cooking. Has for a really long time. Why can’t we? I don’t think it should affect stamina or anything but maybe villagers request food. Cooking competitions. MEOW coupon requirements. But you have to collect the ingredients.

I love this idea! What about BAD foods though? Imagine I gave a nasty patty to my guest and they end up fainting lol

lol maybe food could have an expiration date like turnips and you could feed it to villagers you hate to try and get them to leave town.

Well in that case...

100%. I'd even like to be able to make "seasonal" recipes. A couple of examples would be soups only in the winter & lemonade in the summer.

if you look carefully in the crafting menus in the gameplay and trailers there does seem to be a menu for making food items! i think they're more than likely furniture items (like the teacup).

while i wouldn't mind an actual cooking system i feel like it's not very likely this installment. then again, who knows!

I think cooking a la those little cutscenes in Pocket Camp would be very doable, to serve as gifts for villagers! And then maybe you can display the dishes too...I'm hopeful.

With crafting being a feature in this game, cooking doesn't sound like too far of a stretch. Maybe they could also incorporate it into a minigame like The Roost in New Leaf. Maybe Brewster expands to serving more than just coffee.

What is this? Breath of the Wild? SWORD AND SHIELD EVEN???

Jokes aside, this may be a good feature to add. I don't really know, if they did, it would be a quick cut-scene of the player making the dish instead of a mini-game, but that's just me...

I quite like the idea of having a “healing dish” for bee stings and such, whilst it was a necessity in Breath of the Wild to survive I think the novelty of it would wear off eventually. I was on the fence about eating a piece of fruit before digging up an entire tree, but I guess it does make sense to eat something before moving a massive tree :’)
Cooking could even be an item that villagers request, so they’ll ask you to cook something because they’re going to their friend’s house and they’ll need your help.
I wouldn’t put it past Nintendo to add cooking since Sword and Shield now have it.

Oh yeah! Definitely! I would so love this! All those ideas of cooking and healing and feeding villagers the things you cook are really neat. Even seasonal items would be neat and very fun to do everyday. I can almost imagine it now cooking up a villager's favorite dish and when I give it to them, it boosts their friendship level up even more. Just an idea. :D

I wish they would add more food items to eat in the game and this idea of cooking really sounds nice. I'm definitely in for it and you would have my vote immediately. :)

Maybe! i mean from the second trailer they've showed, new horizons has a energy indicator. Eating fruits is now a useful function!
and with all these stoves ive seen being place outdoors, maybe you can cook = more energy gain upon consumption :lemon: I can only theorize tho.

Well I mean we'll probably be able to craft food housing items, which could potentially require fish or fruit to make.

That sounds like a lovely feature, I could imagine being able to bake a birthday cake for a villager or
making requests for them if they have any. That would be a nice and fun way to build up the friendship
of a villager. Also, I would welcome it if the kitchen items finally have a use (besides the fridge which is
just a closet at the moment). I mean, you can cook in BotW and also in the new Pokemon games, so why
not also in Animal Crossing too?

I'd like the cooking part, but no sick villagers please.

I have my own health problems. lol

I would be here for this!!

It'd be cool to have a recipe book to complete! I can't lie tho I'm a sucker for those little cooking-based games X:

Oh, definitely! I'd love to see these ideas incorporated into the game, but I'm also not expecting it to happen anytime soon (or ever).

If you've ever played Rune factory, it's a really satisfying game because you can already do this plus way more. It has a really good story, a wide variety of dialogue, you can raise and add monsters into your team and use them for battling, your monsters can give you items daily, including food items you can use for cooking, you can plant vegetables and also use them for recipes and you can eat the food you make to recover or sell it for money. I highly recommend this game for anyone who's never tried it. It's like Animal Crossing, mixed with some Pok?mon, and RPG only a lot better, in my opinion.

Even if it was just a quick little cutscene I wouldn't mind cooking! Fruit seems to have an effect this time, so who knows we might get it. I think seasonal cooking is a good idea too, and it would give a little more to the things like fish and fruit that you can either sell or just stick the museum.
