Harv's Island as it's intended feature is, let's face it, useless. I have no intent to ever use it for taking photos. I've been twice to catalogue villager posters that I want to order but apart from that, nothing.

But I've just thought about it - I can use anything in the catalogue without having to pay for it, can customise it for free too. The way I set out these rooms STAYS too, so if I deck out a room as a schoolroom or something, it will stay as a schoolroom until I change it again.

So, technically, even though using it as a photo studio is a bit meh... you kinda have completely free range of an extra house to play around and design what you want. You can make a theatre or whatever if you like the roleplay element. Even if you don't take photos there.

You can use it as a base for working out how things go together - you can put down anything from the catalogue, including unorderables, and customise them all for FREE. This is the perfect chance to plan out rooms and stuff without worrying about spending bells/recipe materials/customisation kits on stuff you might decide you don't actually even like in the end.

So yeah, Harv's Island as a photo studio... bit of a waste of potential. But there's ways and means to make it better, and I for one will absolutely be using this free designing reign I have to be planning out my house and some outside areas as well.

I haven't even visited the island yet just to show you how disgusted I am with it. I saw on Youtube what it was and I was like na. Dumbest thing ever put into an AC game.

i have been using it every now and then to see all the customizations of items in my catalogue! makes it easier when i don't wanna carry all those items in my inventory just to see what the customization options are

My use for Harv's Island comes down to getting access to those villager posters...
How exactly does the posters work? Are they like New Leaf's photos, that village give to you when you achieve max friendship with them?

No, photos still exist separately. Any villager you take to Harv's island via them being on your island or via amiibo will become an option to order in the Special Items section of Nook Shopping in the Nook terminal. These posters show the villagers in a pose, usually wearing a different outfit with a background that shows off their personality and such a bit more. You don't need to be friends with them to get them, just have them at Harv's island at least once.

And, if you use an amiibo of a character not currently in the game (say, Copper or Kapp'n) you can get their posters as well

Oh wow this is awesome to know!!!! I just used it to try out which items can be customised :D I'm hype to use this in the future, great decor plan!
