    Everyone trying to tear each other's throats out in that art contest now. I imagine that is not what the staff had in mind as the 'spirit' of the contest.

    On the one hand, I always find this stuff amusing. On the other, I imagine it is less than comfortable for the artists who entered and made it to the popular vote.

    I mean like a point of reference. Whenever you feel down, this is one of the experiences you can go back to. Your style was the most defined to me in the line-up; I knew right away who the artist was. I do not mean that in a bad way, of course; it feels like you already know who you are/are filled with confidence, if that makes any sense. Of course, the viewers never see the doubts, as they only see the finished product, but from the finished product they see the prize of fighting through those doubts: a distinctive, interesting style.

    Don't all artists? I doubt if artists, writers, and others in the humanities ever stop having doubts.
