I wouldn't deny that. Chapters 1-10 = a long slog of cutscenes and corridors. They make you work to get to the good stuff. Although, it's reflective of the situation the characters are in and the way Cocoon is structured: controlled by a more powerful force. At least, that's the impression I get from it. But on the other hand I will admit it that it does just feel too rigid / lazy.

I wasn't a fan of the monster taming. I'd rather of had a third human character in there, but at the same time I don't think that would really have worked with the story. I just didn't like having a monster in my party. Although admittedly the Chocobos were cool.

Lightning Returns is the best structurally IMO. It's like the developers realised their flaws with the first two games, and re-worked LR around them. I actually bought a new PS3 yesterday purely for existing FF & KH games, because I'm moving out soon and the PS3 I currently use is my Dad's.
