    I recently tried doing that (day 2 with marshal) and I noticed he didn't plot over them at all. and eventually that led him into a decent spot, so I think maybe it works better (just takes more time rather than dropping)

    yeah sometimes they still can. but it's less likely. it also helps if your lost & found (if you have the police station pwp) is full. cause when villagers plot over your items, itll end up there.

    I've had random luck with it though. 5 of my villagers it worked perfectly. only took a couple resets but omg with marshal it took 3 days ... so yeah D:
