  • OH MY GOD I'M IN LOVE WITH FROG LAKE!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!
the frogs are my favorite villagers and that town is absolute perfection!!!!
THIS is why hacking shouldn't be looked down on. Such a beautiful and perfect town!!!!
Thanks, Jingle! Haha, I'm a bit too old to be getting presents in general. I'd just like to land a few pre-orders, but I already missed Jigglypuff earlier.
goood!! major life changes but I still wanna get back into the game and finish some of my long term goals once and for all :'D you?
Are you sure? I feel bad... I can totally earn my own tbt and gives yours back c:
Heh, it's actually a messed up version of the town I live in's name 8'D
    (but I love FoB)
Haha, I was only going to do it for experiment's sake but it would be kinda fun to do an entire town like that. I know someone on the forums (can't remember who atm) said they planned to make their whole town into a maze with bushes, I'd love to visit a dream town like that. But I'd make sure to grab a shovel from Lloid first before venturing out hahaha. I did at one point consider making a mini maze below my plaza but the area ended up being too small and weirdly shaped. (Man, it took me forever to decide what to do with that area.)

Oh I see, yeah I'm glad they got rid of acre limits in NL, that sounds like it'd be really limiting. It doesn't actually affect the perfect town rating though, does it? I've seen people say getting a perfect town is so much easier in NL than in past games because the tree and flower counts are overall, not per acre.
Yep, yellow flowers by my plaza to match the sweet olive bushes I have surrounding it. (Just as the other spots of colored flowers match the bushes/PWP they're surrounding. It looked really nice when the hydrangeas were in bloom but I didn't manage to get my finished town updated before then. :() I had gold roses there originally until I decided I wanted my town to look more "natural" and gold roses look decidedly unnatural.

Oh, yeah, your "mane" town -- I laughed when I read that in your sig. That's cool, I actually never noticed until now that orange cosmos were the only ones without a yellow center, I wonder why that is? Even the yellow ones have yellow centers lol. Are your dream towns updated? I'll remind myself to check them out later.
Heh, I kind of wish I'd done something like this now:

I'm pretty sure I could fit 36 that way, assuming the limit isn't actually 30. When I was drawing up my plan I was only thinking about how you said you had your bushes in chains of 8 and longer, so I started off with 3 chains of 8. It was only around day 7 that I thought, hell, let's just see how many I can get in there. Haha.

Yeah, the first time I heard about planting trees in rows to bypass the acre limit I was like, pshh get out of here, how would that make a difference. But apparently they just need enough space around them to grow past that first day. Now I don't think acre limits were ever a thing in NL, probably something from past games that people assumed carried over? (I haven't played any of the past games so you can correct me if I'm wrong there.)
Aw thanks! I came up with the black/white thing kind of spur of the moment. I already had blue flowers by my station, yellow by my plaza in the northwest corner, pink by town hall in the southwest, orange by my lighthouse in the southeast, and purple by my windmill in the northeast. I figured black and white were the only two colors I wasn't using (besides red, but I couldn't make those work anywhere) and since they're both neutral colors, they'd make the little pockets of color I do have seem even more vibrant.

Black/white/purple would be a pretty sweet theme. I'm thinking of doing white/purple in my second town (if I ever get around to actually landscaping it), I think it'd work well with the "white" violets and pansies as an intermediary color.

And hey I think gaps in bushes can work pretty nicely, assuming they're spread out evenly. Big chains of bushes often make me feel cramped, I like being able to roam :p But good luck redoing your bushes if you do end up doing that!
So, curiosity won and I ended up experimenting with some bushes in my second town. I managed to get 30 bushes into one 7x7 area, in chains of 11, 9, 9, and 1:

This is the order I planted them in, red indicating ofc that they died, green that they grew successfully:

(I couldn't get a bush to grow in that one red spot, even after removing the ones on either side. I did successfully plant a tree there though so I know it's not a dead spot.)

Anyway **shrugs** maybe you were trying to plant too many at once? I was hasty on day 2 planting eight at once and two ended up dying because they were surrounded on every side. I tried doing it by rows instead (days 3, 4, and 5) and they came in fine.

Thanks for your compliments on my town btw. I laughed at the image of you angrily digging up my bushes hahaha.
Well there's different ways of notating it. Point is it was 5 hours behind GMT.
