Hey, I'm 19 and I don't even have a license. I only have a permit for identification purposes. I really have no reason to drive a car. Too expensive and I'd never use it.

At your level, doing either is fine. Doing your own style for experience or doing a tutorial for knowledge. Both work. It's your call. I recommend falling a tutorial and then doing the tutorial again adding your own style into it.
