I understand the non-giftable part because if it's only temporary, I can see a lot of people trying sell them for a quick profit but buyers who don't know it's temporary would basically be scammed of their bells when it disappears from their inventory.
I hope we could keep them too, but like how the poster below me said, with the two different spellings, I wouldn't be surprised if they left our inventories tomorrow :'(
