That's what the new save file option is when you start up the game.You can have more than one person per town but you can only have one mayor. I do have two cartridges though so i do have 2 different towns.I'm waiting until my second character can use the QR code reader before i start designing a bunch and hey i'm heading out for a fewbruhhhh and yeah i do the same. I might go kill like 3 hours designing new patterns in the able sisters -
