I know what you mean... I have tons of patterns everywhere in my new town. Lol you don't have to cover entire town tho - just make sure any open space not covered with patterns is smaller than 3x3. Except for the villager plots. You can leave like 2x2 or 2x3 or 3x1 spaces.. good luck!
