Yeah, I think it's because it's the middle of the school year and people are just getting bored and over it.
I remember something like that happened to me. In my Freshmen year, someone said to me, "just don't even try anymore", which made me feel bad. You won't have P.E. for ever so you won't have to suffer forever!
He's getting nicer, a little. During the break, he sent me and the other Clarinet players 5 texts in a row and it was about how angry he was that no one showed up to sectionals. It made me uncomfortable because the texts were all in caps. He put something like, "THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T SHOW UP UP WERE....REPLY WITH YES IF YOU GET THIS. I'M TESTING YOU!!!!!".
