Hmm...mean/unaccepting communties well where I live in Nor-Ca(northern california)l I always get invited to the cosplay community gatherings and everyone seems nice and friendly here but then again it all depends where u live. I've attended Fanime which is huge here for anime just this year over 35,000+ people went and i've taken pictures of cosplay and such and had no complaints.

On the other hand I've heard some stories about Anime Expo's cosplay community being so strict and mean.
