also i'm not sure if this is how it works, but i kinda actually like that sketched/messy look, so maybe you could just ditch linework? if that makes everything harder, just forget i said anything, but if it's easier, then go for it i guess and just color over the sketch. obviously i'll be happy with whatever the outcome is. ++my apologies if this is bothersome.
