2018 Hawaii Volcano Eruption

Texas has Republicans
California has vegans
Florida has old ppl who r gonna die anyway
Britain is just bad, the say words like "fanny" and "sket". Also Dan and Phil live there and it would be funny to see them die in a volcanic eruption.

I think we should just agree to disagree though ^-^ Have kawaii day.

You?re a horrible person, I hope you know that.

Especially for the reasons he stated. If you truly believe that an entire group should die, you are a bigot, even if it's a group based on beliefs.

I made the same mistake on GameFAQs two years ago. I'm not going to repeat it, nor do I want anyone repeating it.

Exactly. I came to respond and was just browsing through comments and that response shocked me.
As for your original post - I couldn't even begin to imagine the devastation which the residents are going through. Mother nature can be terrifying.

One of the craziest stories was that someone was hit by a lava bomb - from the third floor of the house, and it's not too close to the volcano.

I lived in Hawaii for a few years. Granted, it was on Oahu, not the Big Island. I don't really get why anyone would build a house that close to Kilauea. It has actually been erupting constantly since 1983, and had random eruptions even before then. So these eruptions aren't really new, they're just more dramatic than normal. I've read some excuses like "but this is the only way these people could afford to live on Hawaii!" Yeah, well... Unfortunately, you can't always get what you want in life, or maybe you have to work harder towards it.

I got to live in Japan for a few years too. I wish I could've made Japan my permanent home. But I would've had to work for a Japanese company for at least 10 years to gain permanent residency rights. I wasn't willing to do that. Maybe some of those people living too close to Kilauea should've worked towards saving more money to live somewhere safer. Or, heck, there's other options. Guam is very similar to Hawaii climate-wise. That's another potential option to live. I don't know what land/real estate prices are like there though.

There are people who have grown up and lived there all their lives who don't want to or can't just up and move. Elderly, young, people with family, people with connections, and emotional ties and those who can't just move and find work instantly. There's a lot of factors to consider and for each household the ability to relocate is very circumstantial as to whether it would be viable. It's easy to say these things from an outside perspective.

I understand your point for those who moved there as a dream location - sure, pick somewhere safer or only move when you can really afford it.
