Here's a tip.

Yes, it's hacking, but it'll be wothwhile.

If you have the homebrew channel, get the savegame extreactor. Run it, then get your ACCF disk and extract the save from it every once in a while. Trust me, if something like this ever happens again, you can run the installer and backup your save. Hope this helps, good luck.
