CURRENT RESIDENTS RENOVATIO - currently being updated
CRANSTON (Permanent) 29
Cranston almost always has a scared expression on his face, can‘t remember a single musical note correctly, and is allergic to coffee. But if you don‘t see his face, he seems like the calmest being to walk this earth. It might even be impossible for him to run, even if there is a bowl of rice right in front of him.
Cranston tries to help where he can, but he‘s prone to overworking himself, and is a bit too naive at times. There‘s a lot to read in his eyes. We wonder when somebody might come around who is willing to look into this soul.
LOBO (Permanent) 43
Seems to be scared of humans and raccoons. So why did Lobo move here?
Maybe it was the sky that drew him in, as he loves sitting close to the edge and looking up at whatever might be drifting by.
Lobo leads a bit of a secluded lifestyle up there behind the grapevines, but he‘s awfully curious. Oddly enough, it‘s only at night that he actually is in his house, if K.K. Slider isn't around strumming his guitar.
KLAUS (Permanent) 56
Klaus almost never leaves his house, but if he does, it‘s almost always raining. However, he still finds some pleasure in smelling the flowers, and he seems to have an odd obession with bugs and making fires. He‘s still very supportive, though.
When he‘s inside, he enjoys a good read on the toilet and collecting string instruments – we‘re not sure what other thoughts are crossing his mind. We‘re just happy that Klaus is the first supportive villager, and he seems to be drawing Lobo in. He, however, isn‘t much of a fan of his neighbor‘s obsession with bugs, but he still is often seen going over to Klaus; we suspect he might not be able to resist the pool next door. And maybe Klaus‘s citings, too.
CARRIE (Non-permanent) 34
Surprisingly, Carrie is often found near Resident Services. Rumor has it that she likes to spend some time with Tom Nook, but no one knows for sure. It could be that she finds Timmy and Tommy awfully adorable, or that she‘s jealous of Isabelle‘s book collection.
Carrie is an avid collector of all things K.K. Slider, so one is left to wonder whether her baby can even take it anymore.
FLORA (Non-permanent) 18
There you have a girl that shouldn‘t have been given a telephone. Flora loves calling random numbers, but tends to panic when someone answers. She‘d never get rid of her plushies and is quite the technophile. Prone to falling over and tripping, she‘s often nursed by Carrie - Flora, however, tends to scare the baby.
Luckily there‘s Snake who‘s willing to join her for any idea, but who also acts as a voice of reason. We‘re not quite sure whether he just repeats what Angus has told him, though.
Flora‘s also the only one not intimidated by Klaus‘s stare, so she keeps annoying him. He‘s happy he didn‘t get a telephone in the first place. Hopefully she won‘t find about all the forums he‘s on…
Also, don‘t tell anyone that she always catches fleas.
OZZIE (Non-permanent) 21
Ozzie has bonded with Flora over fossils, and they keep nagging Telin about any new discoveries. He still does not understand why Telin does not want to build a golf course in front of the museum, and he desperately wants a wild west area, but he doesn‘t know about the island representative‘s plans of inviting a horse yet.
If he isn‘t around Flora, he can mostly be seen tip-toeing, even when running, and he‘s always late for appointments. Ozzie would really like to see Klaus‘s bugs, but this big bear‘s stare sends shivers down his spine, and that wolf is quite unsettling, too – Ozzie wonders how this guy never gets a sore neck after looking up at the sky all the time. What‘s he searching for? There surely are no fossils. Therefore, Ozzie can‘t get himself to cross the vineyard, and he‘s always asleep when Klaus goes on his daily promotional walk.
MARSHAL (Non-permanent) 30
Coffee deliverer number one for Angus, and possibly for Lobo as well. But Marshal just can‘t stand Klaus, as he always runs his giant hand through Marshal‘s hair with that deadpan expression, and he absolutely cannot stand having his hairstyle ruined, nor Klaus‘s taste in music. So he just avoids taking a walk when Klaus might stroll around. He couldn‘t be more grateful that Angus seems to understand his concerns.
Marshal also likes cosmetics quite a lot, and his feeling of time is an absolute mess, in contrast to Friga. They only bond over their growing hatred for this island. Let‘s just hope they won‘t create conspiracies together.
ANGUS (Non-permanent) 59
Angus seems to get along with everyone, but he never wants to talk about his past. Carrie is desperately trying to make him talk to Lobo, as she got a chance to use some methods of psychoanalysis she recently read about on both of them and determined that they must be quite similar.
Sadly, however, Angus is often seen at the pier staring off into the distance and might consider leaving soon, going off to his next experience. If he only wasn‘t that secretive, he‘d surely be a great storyteller, and children seem to enjoy his company; Carrie frequently drops her baby off at his place or calls him for help when the little one can‘t fall asleep.
Without any obvious reason, Angus also keeps toughening his muscles.
FRIGA (Non-permanent) 39 (dreading 40)
After moving to the insula on the upper plateau, Friga has increasingly been seen doing yoga in front of her door. We‘re not quite sure yet whether it should be interpreted as a sign of frustration, and even then, it would still be uncertain whether she‘s had enough of our freaky practices or whether it might just be the hot weather, with her being a penguin.
Anyway, apart from performing yoga on another level, she‘s frequently spotted bringing Marshal, her neighbor, some food, as long as she‘s not banging on his door, pleading him to stop singing (or smashing coffee beans).
We don‘t know her sources, but whatever is built on the island, she‘s the first one to criticize it.
SNAKE (Non-permanent) 25
Snake seems to be all over the place. Chances are you see some pink ears sliding by at least ten times a day, and so do the visitors. Especially Redd has caught Snake‘s interest, and Daisy Mae spends a lot of time around him, too. This, however, might only be because he has some paper tissues on hand.
As a shrubs fanatic, Snake keeps asking for more of them, and he still is oblivious to the fact that tarantulas and scorpions are indeed dangerous.
PAST RESIDENTS
Megan 36
Frankly, Megan couldn‘t stand Angus, that grinning bull next door. She attempted to stay near the plaza for as long as she could, but whenever she got back, Angus stood there, waiting, grinning, greeting here. And his whole house smelt of fish – no wonder, he always kept fishing right in front of her only window.
Angus, in turn, being allergic to honey, didn‘t want to go near his home anymore as well, and so they kept running into eachother. Megan suggested politely that it might be best for her to leave.
Bill 24
Being one of the first residents, he tried his best to agree with Telin‘s visions, but when he couldn‘t do his daily jogs anymore because of all the construction work, he knew he had enough. Plus, he always got stung by wasps.
Bill had a hard time saying goodbye to Ozzie, his afternoon-running-partner, yet seeing a grumpy wolf waiting in front of his door quickly made him leave. Rumor has it that Bill still hides at Ozzie‘s place.
Rocket 23
Rocket was the only one to jump into whatever imaginary plan Carrie came up with, as if glued to this kangaroo‘s lips. Malicious tongues might claim that Rocket was naive and easily impressed, but she just was genuinely interested and by far brighter than she seemed.
Whenever Saharah came into town, Rocket was the very first to greet her and didn‘t leave until the end of the day, listening to the stories from foreign lands.
By the way, moving to Helkaplont was the first time Rocket traveled somewhere, and she came straight from university. Having calmed down, she decided that it would be best to continue her journey.

A. D. VIII KAL. APR. - PRID. KAL. APR. ANNO 2773 MARCH 25 - MARCH 31, 2020
A. D. VIII KAL. APR.
The Populus Helkaplontis is honored to announce the opening of the colony, with the arrival of the first incolae Bill, Rocket, and Telin, under the supervision of Nook Inc..
As the result of the first elections held, Telin was made the first Representative of Helkaplont.
A. D. VI KAL. APR. - March 27
Thanks to honorable efforts of all citizens, Nook Inc. officially opened the very first shop of the colony.
Following the improvement of the island economy, we were able to establish a bond with a foreign island owned by Harvey.
A. D. V KAL. APR. - March 28
Salve to Ozzie, our next glorious settler. We hope he enjoys his stay on the island, as well as that he may want to clean up all the cardboard he lost on the way to his domus.
We're honored to welcome Blathers and his magnificent museum on the island! Albeit being a little sleepy, he quickly lit up after tasting some of the wine. We hope to develop the vineyard in the near future, as our resources are a little limited at the moment.
A. D. IV KAL. APR. - March 29
Dear Bill took his time to prepare the birthday party for our representative Telin! With all the wine used up the day before, the partying populus resorted to wild beats and a diabetes-inducing intake of sugar.
Not yet attending the birthday party was Carrie, who had just arrived the night before and was still a little upset due to her baby crying all day long. Rocket didn't seem too pleased, but then she went over to her new neighbor and took care of the little one for the rest of the day. It's a good thing Carrie was so invested in cleaning up and unpacking that she didn't take notice of the awfully loud electronic dance music erupting from Rocket's house.
Later in the day, Ozzie made an effort to craft a stone lion for Telin. He'll be awarded with a prize for cultural improvement of the colony, but for now, a fossil to add to his collection had to be enough.
Following this, Telin invested some more time in strengthening the foreign relations by traveling the surrounding islands; however, rumor has it that they spent more time conversing with Wilbur, who suggested building a donut-shaped temple dedicated to the god Sugaros. Telin later informed the fish at their home that they might stop by again for some of his coffee.
A. D. III KAL. APR. - March 30, PRID. KAL. APR. - March 31
Let's greet the last of the three anticipated settlers, Flora! She had a hard time getting all her stuffed animals from the airport to her new home, but Telin was busy... dreami- planning their visions for the colony under the new, fully-grown palm trees, so Tom Nook had to take over, not noticing that he was being watched by Telin from afar. They later decided to have a coffee with Wilbur on the pier.
The next day, Tom Nook announced that the Resident Services would finally be moved into the official building. Oddly enough, he avoided Flora at all costs, it seems.
Speaking of Flora, she took it upon her to improve the island economy with all her might and bought a supply of 640 cans of soda. While a few steps next to her, Bill was proud of crafting a leaf with his own wings. Telin decided, fishing on a clifftop late at night, that it might be best to use the cans as posts, and that the use of cans would not be sustainable any longer. Do we even have a constitution yet? Who creates it?
KAL. APR. - A. D. XVII KAL. MAI. ANNO 2773 APRIL 1 - APRIL 15, 2020
KAL. APR. - April 1, A. D. IV NON. APR. - April 2
Tom Nook was happy to introduce Isabelle to our thriving colony! Telin had already heard about her from a regular visitor of the monastery, but they found that she appeared a lot more relaxed. Which is understandably so, if you peek through the back windows of the Resident Services and find piles and piles of magazines and DVDs. Who knows what convinced her to settle here.
This summery hot day also marked the beginning of the Easter season, which is going to take place, indeed. Yes, it's necessary to emphasize this, as Telin was strictly against celebrating such modern festivities, but they seemed convinced after spending the day jumping around the island with Zipper until they were all sweaty, and didn't want to take off the egg outfit by the end of it.
The wonderful Celeste paid us a visit as well, enlightening us under the falling stars with a more suited type of stories to ease Telin's mind. Telin was found sleeping on the egg bed on a clifftop the following day.
The next day, we inspected the newly built campsite, and started working on the hot baths system. The citizens are encouraged to donate all the stone they can get!
A. D. III NON. APR. - April 3
The residents decided to start the day off with a gathering of devoted tea-lovers, however, we suspect that they were spinning conspiracy theories, or revolting against the measures taken by Telin. Or just conversing.
But still, one restless soul has decided to inspect this place, and chose to stay. We're looking forward to welcoming Marshal on our island!
A. D. VIII ID. APR. - April 6, A. D. VII ID. APR. - April 7
Surprisingly enough, we had a bull join our colony, Angus. We must admit that he's a bit cut off up there on the clifftop, but he was so eager to get all his fishing utensils into his new home that we hardly doubt he'd even begin to seek companionship.
Telin also successfully convinced Megan to move to our pulchritudinous island, to cite them (however, Wilbur had the impression that Megan might just didn't dare refuse the offer), so it seems like Angus won't be lonely (or just alone) for long.
Apart from using some more stone to craft various decorations, Telin also took care of Carrie, who had caught the flu. They made an effort to get her baby over to Rocket as fast as possible, but she seemed nowhere to be found, and, being such an adventurous lad, or just sun-struck, they dropped it off at Angus's.
A warm salve to Megan, who arrived today! She seemed a bit bothered by all the cliffs leading up to her home, but she was greeted nicely by Angus. As if he had been waiting!
A. D. VI ID. APR. - April 8
After having woken up to an angry Carrie ranting about how badly educated Flora was, our island representative entered Resident Services, not expecting anything pleasant to have happened. However, Tom Nook was left baffled when Isabelle read the evals to Telin: K.K. was on his way to our colony Helkaplont!
No one knows whether Sable was shocked or joyfully surprised, but she finally talked to Telin, who just couldn't stop nagging and teasing her. Is it respect that Telin gained that day, improving the island rating?
To celebrate this event, the eastern bridge is going to be finished by tomorrow. Construction work is going strong, but some of our villagers seem to have disappeared. Is this a mere coincidence?
A. D. V ID. APR. - April 9, A. D. IV ID. APR. - April 10
K.K. didn't look amused this morning. Might be because of the time, or due to Orville not getting his work done, or Wilbur not having taken a bath for a week, or just Telin pressuring him to play "apposite carmina", but in the end, everybody seemed pleased, and Tom Nook took the guitarist with him, never to be seen again on that day.
Marshal, not admitting how much of a fan he is, only got to stand right behind Telin and therefore couldn't even get a glimpse of the performance. He was quickly prompted to request to move out, but as the only source of coffee at the moment, Telin declined not so politely. Rumor has it that Marshal went back to his home and didn't leave for the rest of the day, but Angus vanished as well.
Sable deplored not even having some tea for Telin, but we all know that they wouldn't have wanted any. Black coffee is key, which is what they told Mabel afterwards, and that this might wake her sister up. Mabel warned them not to experiment.
Late at night, Megan was found running around in front of the museum. Business with Blathers? No, that's Telin's thing. Did Megan even go home that night? No one knows, but Angus wasn't even home. Did Telin tell her? Well, of course not!
The following day, K.K. was still in town, this time having set up chairs (might have been requested by Marshal). He fell asleep some time in the afternoon. Did he even leave that night? Sitting there all day long, he kept singing about bone pain.
Other than that, Telin arrived at Carrie's place and found Angus, her with a forced smile, and Angus whispering to Telin, quote: "Little one, if you're ever that happy, try to keep that feeling in mind... for bad times."
Telin decided to relax with K.K., but then Flora dropped by and they were all hyped again. Contrary to Marshal, who desperately meditated near the waterfall, with Megan talking to some flowers above his head on the clifftop. Where the hell was Angus?
Telin ended the day by counting the planks at the dock and naming them. Don't you ever step on Doris! Hold on, that's Stanton...
A. D. III ID. APR. - April 11
The day of the fabulous fishing tournament! Everyone seemed to enjoy it. Everyone was joyful. No one was unhappy. Repeat. Everyone...
Well, Flora made an effort with soda cans and got scolded by Telin - don't you dare fish with my posts! - and Angus and Megan snuggled up... or they just deemed this the best spot. Being screamed at by Telin surely isn't a pleasant experience.
Rocket kept on repeating a mantra when Telin entered, something about how she absolutely wouldn't want to participate. Later, she couldn't even squeak anymore and was placed next to Angus, a fishing rod in her hands.
All in all, not a single villager seemed capable of rational thought, therefore Telin resorted to the museum and set up a small landscape in front of it.
PRID. ID. APR. - April 12
Never, ever before could so much entertainment and sadistic joy be found on this deserted island, at least as far as records date back. Zipper appeared out of thin air once again and spread delight, and even Telin agreed to join in on the fun. They were mostly seen singing along with Zipper.
...Or making fun of villagers. Tom Nook had already almost gotten annoyed (or was it embarrassment?), but Wilbur had the time of his life.
Now, buckle up for bright pictures taken on this noteworthy day.
"There just has to be something going on, and I'm 40% sure it's illegal!
ID. APR. - April 13, A. D. XVIII KAL. MAI. - April 14
A warm welcome to Friga! Telin reported they got the feeling that she didn't plan on ever leaving her house. Understandably, so cozy and cold. But it's also April 13, so Telin had a lot of feelings, deep, dark, always true visions.
Carrie started the day off with a question of utmost importance she absolutely had to ask Flora: Where do you see yourself in five years? We wonder where she read this.
And now for the daily quotes...
Gulliver: They'll write my name right across the sails and they'll open the barrel with the GOOD lemonade...
Angus: Just try smirking ironically, and you'll see that they'll quickly get lost!
Being a nervous wreck by the end of the day, Ozzie pulled Telin with him to SIT DOWN AND STARE AT THE MOON. Rinse and repeat. They later had an avid conversation about giant bugs with 13 legs and red eyes. Well, that escalated quickly (but at least it looked peaceful).
Still imagining big bugs the next day, Telin swung by at Rocket's birthday party - the theme was "pink", which is why only Flora was allowed to come, and Telin didn't mind - having the time of their life. Man, all those pink bugs dancing and prancing... Telin maybe should have paid more attention to what exactly was going on between the other two ...bugs.
Marshal had already found Ozzie in a fairly similar state, therefore he set out for Telin and dropped them off at the airport. New residents! New faces! New fans!
Telin was in awe with Cranston's giant yellow eyes staring back. They continued to do so for another four hours, until he agreed to move in, and then stared at eachother for three more hours, until Wilbur got nervous and ended this ritual. Or was it hypnosis? We're not sure whether this what Marshal was looking forward to.
A. D. XVII KAL MAI. - April 15
Greetings, Cranston, welcome to Helkaplont! Take your time, settle in... don't mind Telin watching...
Another one of the suspicious tea gatherings took place today. Bill was the first to arrive at the scene, followed by Megan and Friga, this time leaving no chair for Telin. Is this a clear sign? Is it FUN? Can this be tolerated? Is the tea any good?
Ozzie was found craving pear juice, all covered in a greenish, mushy pulp. He seemingly was still distressed and is left to be alone.
Apart from that, Marshal practiced playing the piano all day long, but he had difficulties finding scales, and Flora walked her grasshopper. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing entertaining for Telin, not even Rocket and Megan that close together.
A. D. XVI KAL. MAI. - PRID. KAL. MAI. ANNO 2773 APRIL 16 - APRIL 30, 2020
A. D. XVI KAL. MAI. - April 16, A. D. XV KAL. MAI. - April 17, A. D. XIV KAL. MAI. - April 18
The day has come when we'll say our last goodbye to Megan, who had locked herself up today while packing her belongings - supposedly to keep Angus far away from her. Megan seemed to be in a hurry and left even before lunchtime, Wilbur, however, just had brunch. This must have been her very last Helkaplont donut.
The remaining day went by rather quietly, after the rain had stopped. Carrie and Friga shared recipes - couscous with barley coffee - while Cranston experimented with dog bones. Ever wondered where the policemen had gone?
Overwhelmed by an uncanny feeling, Telin devoted themselves to the holy district the next day, which is going to be supervised by a gyroid for now.
The gods were pleased the following day, in contrast to our lovely villagers. Despite the sunny weather, Rocket stayed indoors, grumpy about Angus emptying her fridge. He, on the other hand, had fallen asleep with a cup of tea in his hooves.
A. D. XIII KAL. MAI - April 19
With the arrival of Snake, which nearly went by unnoticed, if not for Ozzie who had smelled cookies, we now have a solid pink villager base. That never was a goal, of course, but Telin thinks they look aesthetically pleasing next to pink hycinths. Ergo: Take pictures, then wait and see. But Snake could make a fairly good guard of the holy district.
Speaking of holy district, Marshal took on the challenge of singing against the waves. Telin however saw it as blasphemy and retreated to their domus, desperately planning a safe environment for the deities.
Therefore, thay built the temenos as fast as humanly possible, and we ran out of iron.
Marshal was infuriated for the rest of the day as he wanted to provoke Telin with horoscopes.
A. D. XII KAL. MAI. - April 20, A. D. XI KAL. MAI. - April 21, A. D. X KAL. MAI. - April 21
Finally finding a bit of inner peace, Telin devoted this day to the colony's residents. They were greeted by Flora, who, despite breaking one of the rules, was quite entertaining talking about her progress with breakdancing, describing it as a dance from the 80's, y'know, back when gravity was different.
We had a campsite visitor today, Boyd, who discussed wrestling with Marshal. Admittedly, that squirrel has a broad range of interests - if only history was one of them.
After a day of hard work (spent alternating between Wilbur and Blathers), Telin demonstrated their flea-catching skills - they seem to spread on here. It's time we build the aqueduct! But that's the prize of choosing furry beings as your company, Telin.
Cranston took Telin aside, telling them that there seem to be vibrations over at Ozzie's that he just cannot explain. What a trustworthy, honorful resident he is!
Getting up late in the afternoon, Telin took on construction of the public baths. If we can't have an aqueduct as of now, the least we can do is provide some form of water!
We took inspiration from the most splendid of buildings when designing our mosaics. However, it's still uncertain when the opening ceremonies will be held.
Telin slept at Rocket's place last night, but they refused to tell us their reason. All they reported was that Rocket admitted she liked children, having been a babysitter.
Due to their sleep schedule, they only found out late in the day that Cranston was suffering from a bad infection of unknown origin - might this be the vibrations he was talking about?
Mosaics have hit a nerve with Telin - in the end, is there anything more beautiful that playing with small stones till late at night.
A. D. IX KAL. MAI. - April 23
We started off rainy with a glimpse of sunshine, but the gods brightened up by late afternoon.
Meanwhile, Cranston couldn't be bothered to do yoga up on his hill, while Ozzie and Bill spent the day inside. We thought we had seen little action figures when we entered.
Friga, after having left her house to bathe in the sunshine, was soon perturbed by Ozzie, who told her that he liked her smell. Vibrations.
The public baths are coming together more and more, and Telin got to work even better today after a good night's rest, following Leif's advice.
A. D. VIII KAL. MAI. - April 24
Something must have bothered the gods - we were punished with malicious almost-thunderstorms all day long, and only Flora ever left her house, albeit not voluntarily - where did she get that coffee? Was it even coffee? Telin, of course, set out to imrpove the colony, anyway.
And another dubious figure had entered, according to Telin. Why even was Tom Nook strictly aginst city walls? Not a good sign on such an unfortunate day.
However, when he, introduced as Redd and Telin's cousin, but they know their family well enough, offered a work of art, there was no way to decline. Finally, they had found a connaisseur of sculptures as well as frescoes! Telin held back, though, not showing any form of relief yet. After all, that rusty nutshell tied to our beautiful beaches arrived on such a day, and it seems reasonable to deem it at least suspicious.
Flora served as emotional support, even after the storm had gotten worse, singing to her heart's content when Telin constructed the second mosaic. Most likely thanks to some kind of invisible connection of all ostriches, Cranston came by to help with keeping the materials save from the rain. He told us about the bugs he had investigated before, sad that his book was dripping afterwards.
A. D. VII KAL. MAI. - April 25
Just when K.K. Slider arrived, the stormclouds disappeared - what kind of power does he wield? - and the flowers were blooming in all colors of the rainbow. Construction on the museum had been started and di sciunt where Blathers flew off to, missing out on such a nice day!
Bathing in the sun, Telin finally finished the second mosaic as well, and relaxed to K.K.'s tunes together with Rocket afterwards. After all, the gods' disposition might not be all up to them.
A. D. V KAL. MAI. - April 27
History lessons with Rocket seem to be the thing lately, therefore Telin registered for one as well. They were told that the settlement was built on ancient burial ground, but Telin left feeling infuriated - that gorilla has no clue! Time for some fun...
The other residents engaged in the usual unusual activities - Angus had lost his planner, which, of course, he didn't get back unread, Friga visited Flora for some weird reason - ah! Now we know where the coffee might come from! - and Snake had fallen ill. We told him not to go out in the rain, WE can do the patrol jogs as well (potentially).
Telin tried to escape this boredom with Nook's Cranny being closed for construction as well by staring at the only two paintings at the museum yet.
A. D. IV KAL. MAI. - April 28, PRID. KAL. MAI. - April 30
Nook's Cranny radiated capitalism in the moonlight, still not fitting Telin's visions of the colony despite their clear instructions.
In order to create the exact opposite, Telin started construction on the boardwalks, now that more stone is available. None of the villagers seemed to enjoy the effort put in, but they will be greatful for the stepping stones (albeit for considerably smaller ones).
It stills feels great to sleep in, not having to wake up by 4AM to take care of chattering chicken. Staring at the ceiling for five minutes while counting out time, Telin remembered that it was Angus's birthday today, but no one apart from her and Carrie (and her baby, to be exact) celebrated with him. All that hard work put into his outfit of choice gone to waste! Marshal, where art thou? We wonder how that bull still enjoys his birthdays, after all those years.
Marshal was later discovered singing under a pine tree. We couldn't possibly get him some medicine, could we?
KAL. MAI. - A. D. XVI KAL. IUN. ANNO 2773 MAY 1 - MAY 17, 2020
KAL. MAI. - May 1 Another day obscured by clouds and rain, a brave monkey named Deli visited the island. He glanced at Telin fearfully, gripping his coffee mug, but later almost set his tent on fire while trying to concoct his own delicacies. Therefore he will not gain access to the populus Helkaplontis.
A. D. VI NON. MAI. - May 2 A sunny Saturday spent spreading flowers, Sable later involved Telin in a conversation about how tirelessly she manages to work on others' days off, which seemed to make Telin more willing to converse with her as well, although she refused to come along for K.K.'s concert. A devoted worker, Telin noted.
A. D. V NON. MAI. - May 3 Ozzie graced Telin's early morning by sitting next to the forum, doing nothing; Rocket, on the other hand, had dozed off - we wonder...
After tending to Bill who had caught the flu, Telin unfortunately had to donate a bug, apparently called the "Emperor of EWWW", to Blathers, who could only be calmed down through excessive analysis of fossils. As Marshal noted (critiqued?), the Representative had been excavating plenty of them. Showing off his language skills, he decided for himself that Telin would be called "Diva" from now on, and they felt honored, of course, as what would one rather be than divine?
While Rocket was busy begging for workout advice from Leif, Friga wandered the clifftop with her purse (not missing any stairs at all) as Telin laid out some more pathways in the residential area.
A. D. IV NON. MAI - May 4 Rather unusual, Telin agreed to a time-out conversing with Carrie and Cranston, who confessed to his desire of tasting all flavors there are, but his dreams were shattered quickly when Rocket invited him to orange sauce on tuna casserole topped with apple cake. She wasn't in good spirits and seemed especially appalled by Telin.
With Flora busy burying treasure (and Ozzie nowhere to be found), Marshal composing his autobiography (we welcome literary outlets), and Bill and Snake involved in close physical contact, Telin resorted to adding preliminary sidewalks to the insulae, under the watchful eye of Friga, while listening to Celeste's recollections of the immortals.
A. D. III NON. MAI. - May 5 We now know for certain that Telin worked all night long, although some residents' accounts differred.
The statue Telin erected as a test subject already saw some interest, and taking the pleasant weather into consideration, it might be the right time for approaching Redd again to ask about LEGALLY acquired works, or skilled craftsmen.
An urgent call from Tom Nook however required the Representative to mount the airplane and brave an almost Minoan labyrinth to rescue a cat. When Telin returned to extort answers, Nook had vanished.
PRID. NON. MAI. - May 6 Both Flora and Ozzie seem to have concluded that Telin is the most fashionable being in Helkaplont, and we assume it relates to fashion, as it's not quite evident what exactly they meant.
Rocket noted that Angus must be planning something, since he's even more "grinny" than usual, and Marshal wanted to see Telin's magic tricks he had heard about, but all of that left the Representative unperturbed; they tore away at more of the cliffs to expand the insulae, which meant that Cranston had to be relocated. It was quite late when he was contacted and he looked rather perplexed (though that doesn't mean much), but Telin agreed to help.
NON. MAI. - May 7 With late afternoon replacing morning once more, Telin headed over to Ozzie's birthday celebrations, into which Marshal, the only guest, had pressured him.
Meanwhile, the Pink conspired at Flora's, yet Snake appeared more fond of the cans of sports drinks he could get for free, and Flora quite obviously waited for Ozzie.
During the day's (night's) work on the upper plateau of the residential area, Cranston stayed by the Representative's side, marveling at their work ethic - he is proving himself a worthy citizen more and more.
A. D. VIII ID. MAI. - May 8 Rocket was eager to reapproach Telin offering all of life's lessons she had learned, but the Representative merely acknowledged her - we're certain they know what they're doing. The thing that made getting up this afternoon worthwhile was Flora's baked squash, which Angus pointed out as having smelled passing by; a sort of actual birthday party for Ozzie.
Marshal's ways are evidently not welcome on Helkaplont.
Construction is moving at a steady pace, and Telin struck several deals with Redd, who strongly adviced against having Blathers as a consultant. Telin trusted in the immortals' guidance, anyway.
A. D. VII ID. MAI. - May 9 A first civil trial saw the rejection of camper Cheri whose addition was strongly opposed by the Pink.
Angus "invited" Snake and confessed that this, being surrounded by "friends", is all he ever wanted. We're uncertain what exactly he perceives as being true. He certainly never left Telin's side today, obstructing their work on the cliffs.
A. D. VI ID. MAI. - May 10 The next day (and morning), Angus occupied Telin's backyard and reported smelling food yet again, this time veggie pho from Snake's. The Representative very much reconsidered whether Angus should even be moved down into an insula. Snake was found asleep, sucking on an emotional support lollipop. We suppose the cause is unclear, as Telin had also torn down all the cliffs around his house, leaving him stranded (and far removed from Angus) on the highest plateau.
Marshal struggled to keep Ozzie awake at his place far too late at night, Flora having to resort to fishing as digging up fossils takes two.
On Telin's way back from setting up the foundations of the necropolis in the northern outskirts, Bill, whom they had not forgotten and who was not following a schedule completely opposite their own, ran his decision to move away by them, appearing conflicted, yet reluctant to name any reasons.
A. D. V ID. MAI. - May 11 Despite bidding farewell to Bill, most of the populace went about their business as usual; only Snake stuck with Bill, and certainly not just to train by carrying the boxes.
Angus has begun to surround himself with "friends", and poor Ozzie couldn't refuse. On the other hand, this lets Telin do their Representative duties unhindered.
Flora and Carrie were worrying about what present to get Marshal for his September(!) birthday; several requests of his to make it a public holiday have already been rejected.
With a slight drizzle, Friga felt more comfortable stepping outside and promptly got involved in a conversation with Cranston, who had just given up on his dream of tasting every flavor and found himself now being teased for getting creative with the J in PBJ sandwich.
A. D. IV ID. MAI. - May 12 Woken up much too early in the morning by Marshal's cries for medicine (and getting his old baseball cap as a reward; Telin thinks he was just rehearsing for a play), the Representative had ample time to search the sea for a new member of Helkaplont. Seeing no visitor on the second island though left Telin curious, and they dug up a wolf glaring at the sky, then becoming aware of Telin and falling into a state of paralysis, after long minutes of silence finally agreeing to move to sunny, cloudless Helkaplont. The Representative left promptly, seeing their duty there fulfilled.
Back in Helkaplont, Telin learned the newcomer's name, Lobo, through Friga who had waited to catch Telin after their afternoon (evening) rest, buzzing with excitement over what kind of music he might like. The Representative proceeded to relocate Marshal (closer; painful, but necessary) and pave the ways around the necropolis in blissful solitude. We later found a discared sleeping bag, which Rocket had apparently thrown at Telin earlier in the day.
A. D. III ID. MAI. - May 13 Rampant construction and relocations, though Telin prefers to hold personal incompetence accountable, might leave some residents disoriented.
Lobo, his house located between the forum and the museum for now, appeared overly focused on his broom (reports told about a pair ov greenish yellow eyes glued to the windows, though) and was mainly unresponsive; Wilbur had made some odd remarks about raccoons over coffee break with Telin.
Most of the populace was busy working out, only later engaging in some more artistic outlets: Rocket and Marshal howled on the forum, Carrie and Friga shared their love of physical books; which are, indeed, the only ones we have on the island. Telin distanced themself and listened to the owl silbings' expertise.
PRID. ID. MAI. - May 14 Rain greeted Lobo on his first day, but he left home nonetheless and ventured out into the wild, solitary parts of the island, only popping up out of thin air and asking Telin whether they were using this shovel for treasure hunting.
On the more extraordinary side of things, intel reached Telin that a certain Klaus, known in the relevant spheres and hailing from an ancient bloodline, had mentioned Helkaplont on one occasion, and they pressured Tom Nook into inviting him to the campsite. His stern look left Telin instantly convinced and they presented him with the best goods in Helkaplont on the occasion of a small symposion.
ID. MAI. - May 15 In preparation of another of Klaus's visits, Telin left their abode early, only to find they shared the same thought with Lobo, who was staring at the sky in a field of flowers and feeling rather aimless.
Meanwhile, Cranston had heard of the Representative's plans and was brushing up on his bug expertise, and Marshal engaged in literature quite demonstratively as well, not without noticing Telin's immaculate appearance, which should really become the standard for all residents.
Angus, confronted by Carrie about his relationship with his parents - have there been any unreported problems? - evaded any further explanations on his behalf, and Telin would have pried further.
But alas, the Representative's main objective was wonderful Klaus, already relishing the Helkaplont tradition of farina perforata, demonstrating some of his studies in construction while being shown our cultural achievements, yet he expressed the desire to learn about Helkaplont's history before deciding. Telin is convinced this is not due to our shortage of wine, which has been exacerbated by an increase of consumption among the citizens.
A. D. XVII KAL. IUN. - May 16 After an elaborate exposition of Helkaplont's origins, Klaus contributed to its reconstruction by teaching us how to build an acoustic guitar and recommending interpretative dances as rituals. Virtuous as he is, Klaus showed a great deal of legal proficiency in dealing with the paperwork himself.
As we have no vacancies, it was decided that Rocket would have to leave, a process which saw no dramatic scenes at all, although we're unsure what transpired at her house. Snake, however, shaken by recent events, got to attend K.K.'s concert with the Representative.
Telin devoted themself to tearing down the cliffs next to Lobo's house, who sat and watched for all the hours it took, and we must assume he's grateful for the widened horizon.
A. D. XVI KAL. IUN. - May 17 An early morning allowed for an unperturbed venture of Lobo's down to the forum, free from raccoons and humans and still wholly ignorant of the following day's highlight. Mentioning the recent expansion of infrastructure, though, he seemed about to reach the correct assumption.
Flora, also becoming aware that something was about to happen, took notice of Telin's clothes for the occasion, who was quick to recommend them to her as well. What about a dress code?
News had made the rounds later in the day, not just of the Representative being busy, and this left Lobo buzzing with (positive or negative) excitement.
Many citizens reported an uncanny feeling, though none of their conclusions can be correct considering the Gods' favor upon us.
Ozzie, on the other hand, taught Telin how to cry. We leave this event up for interpretation.
Much more pressing was the open space next to the future vineyard and Lobo's, and Telin wanted it to be filled with the theater's foundations.
A. D. XV KAL. IUN. - A. D. IX KAL. IUN. ANNO 2773 MAY18 - MAY 24, 2020
A. D. XV KAL. IUN. - May 18
Finally, after waiting for such a long time, Telin was able to welcome the dedicated Klaus in Helkaplont! Passionate as he is, he opened up about his plans with cardboard - indeed, there is a lot of it on the island, more than stone.
Ozzie got all excited for this new resident who took Rocket's place and tried to convince us that he was looking forward to the food, but we all know the rumors about Klaus, come on!
Lobo looked a little uncomfortable all day long, even though it rained later on. He mumbled something about a new neighbor and chased his tail when no one was looking, and he didn't blink once. Looked like a lot of caffeine, but Marshal promised he only went to see Angus today.
Flora has started to make lists of everything - we consider giving her a proper job in the colony, but she seems to be fixed to the idea of rating and ranking everything she sees, and startes fangirling for no reason whatsoever. Flora is not a fan of the cloudy weather.
Angus was in good spirits today (probably with spirits), stuffing one donut after the other into his face and rambling about how ambitious Telin is. We can't shake off the feeling that something is definitely off today, especially after finding Snake fast asleep in Telin's atrium.
Blathers was overjoyed to host the stamp rally, but Telin almost didn't get to see the stations since they discussed a specific fossil for hours. Telin didn't want to tell us about what they experienced in there, but we suspect some stamps might have gone missing.
After having pleased the gods (and taken a nap), Telin woke up to the sound of rain, fearing they might have failed the rituals again. Quick, construct the theater! And so Telin built row after row, or so Ozzie, who was working out on the stone cliffs in the north, informed us. Telin must have been close to collapsing, not having eaten for di sciunt how long, therefore Ozzie took them with him and had Carrie come over, experimenting on an orange cake with fortune cookies baked in.
However, we must admit that the theater, albeit still a little bare-boned, is a truly "monumental" improvement to the cultural offerings of the colony.
A. D. XIV KAL. IUN. - May 19
It looks like Klaus is going strong with his promotions - not only taking a single walk a day, but strolling all over the place. Sadly, he had moved on from cardboard to stone. He might just come in handy with his superb knowledge of frescoes!
A worried Carrie pulled Telin aside and confessed that she had lost her journal. What a pleasant joy to read it! But it also enforced Telin's perspective on Carrie: She wasn't suited to stay for long, she's strictly against Greco-Roman influences, a defender of modern art.
The stage was set up successfully, even if Tom Nook mumbled something about not wanting to go along with all of those fantasies anymore, it's a campsite, not a soul would want to sleep on a stage... Telin told him to "subdue caviling" and pray to the gods to have mercy with him, at least it wasn't an amphitheater for cannibalistic endeavors.
Lobo had regained his nerves of iron, watching Telin select a plot for Klaus's house to be moved to. In fact, he seemed to have turned to iron, but at least he doesn't make his tail suffer anymore.
Celeste flew by again, however, Telin was obsessed with finishing the theater and sent Klaus over to her. He kept correcting Celeste, saying he had seen it all wih his very own eyes.
Then he went back home to discuss all the new plans and visions he imagined at the end of the day, such as wanting to get to know every single one in the colony of Helkaplont, but they just ended up discussing biopics until late at night.
After that, he set out to go fishing, for di sciunt how long.
Will it be any good for him to open up to Telin that much? Or is he even opening up, really?
Telin agreed to teach Flora survival skills. They don't know anything about it, too, but a reclusive lifestyle to delve into such topics is their specialty.
A. D. XIII KAL. IUN. - May 20
Do you ever wake up to mailbox stuffed with letters that all look the same, but then there is the odd one out, as if the gods had fun breaking their rules? Telin received one of those from Ozzie, and shouldn't he know by now that tea isn't on their list of favorites? T is, indeed, among the very best.
Flora had watched from behind, sipping on the last of her soda cans - she even was so desperate to search for love and care in fences, carelessly dropped on the sand. Is it Flora's fencing fetish, the famous FFF?
Lobo strolled to the plaza for the first time in days, all excited for some campsite visitor he thought he had seen. There you have it, Tom, folks do want to set up tents on stages!
Meanwhile, Klaus invited Telin, said he had filled his bathtub(s). However, there was a 13 written on the inside, likely the product ID, therefore Telin quickly left only to be overrun by an oily smell, noticing Redd's wreck tied to an otherwise CLEAN and PROPER beach. Note that this is only the necessary chatter, Telin was overjoyed to get in and talk arts, even though Redd had no idea what they were blabbering about (something about statues), and they bought the Perfect Painting. What a waste of his precious time. Do they even have a clue how expensive stone is around here?
Klaus was a little upset when Telin left so quickly, so he later set out to look for them, yet not having the courage to ask them directly. Instead, they discussed conspiracy theories, and it seems as if Cranston might be the next to join - he didn't move just an inch away.
A. D. XII KAL. IUN. - May 21
Another report of Angus's obsession with muscles surfaced today, this time in written form. Telin felt urged to send a nasty response, but then they remembered that it was May 21 and that they had learnt that nothing was to be written on this day. As well as for the rest of the week - plus basically every day with an N in its name.
Isabelle, the colony's mastermind, dreamed about ceviche when informing the respresentative about current happenings - she more and more becomes lost in her own little world. But no, no one is ever going to lose their mind on here.
Admittedly not familiar with Marshal's presumed religion (that surely shouldn't be allowed on here), Telin was intrigued to overhear the following
but it also only enforced them in their belief that most of the population couldn't be maintained here for long.
Lobo, on the other hand, had secluded himself once again, this time "skygazing" directly behind a cliff. Not much of a surprise, as Klaus was busy all day long using up his gold ores.
A. D. XI KAL. IUN. - May 22
With Isabelle rambling about the history of wrestling, we set out for another day on the island. It seems like Friga is running short on self-discipline currently, but we must admit that it was quite amusing to stare at her, and not have her stare back with those shocked white pupils.
Something's wrong today... Friday, so Telin should probably write some letters... Or there might be a disease about to spread, starting over at Marshal's and Friga's. He kept mumbling about snacks - might this be the result of those tea time gatherings? We haven't seen any of them recently, though...
Telin was utterly pleased to find such a glorious message in a bottle, written by a certain Soleil, or as they like to call her, Sol. Finally, someone new to pray for.
Meanwhile, Klaus might have put Lobo to sleep yesterday, pulling him back into his house (don't ruin the scenery!), as he taught Telin how to craft a ukulele today.
When it had cooled down, Telin left once more after the evening rituals to locate the plots for the tabernae.
They had a pleasant conversation with Klaus, who had chosen to join them this evening, curious about what exactly their rituals are and when the holy site might be finished. In the end, however, he grabbed his newly crafted ukulele, telling Telin that that's his way of pleasing the gods, along with good dishes. In his opinion, the gods are not far from us mortals - some of us may wield their power. They planned a meeting for tomorrow to discuss philosophy. Note to Telin: Order some good beverages from Wilbur, and maybe invite him over.
A. D. X KAL. IUN. - May 23
We had the impression that Carrie convinced Angus to see K.K. today. It's a shame he had to strum in the rain, as Klaus might be enthralled to exchange some knowledge with him, but rain presents this bear's biggest threat.
Pleased that the stores are slowly coming together, with the first successful relocation having taken place last night. Truly monumental.
Lobo resurfaced as well, as soon as the rain had stopped, looking happier than ever, just one inch farther from his door than usual. However, he might just have difficulties standing. Report to Klaus? Report to Klaus.
We'll leave the next bit uncommented. Needless to say, Lobo might be stuck outside again.
A. D. IX KAL. IUN. - May 24
Carrie has caught on to the philosophy discussions as well. However, we fear Telin might dare tell her that even two clocks aren't safe, which will make assistance from Angus necessary.
Stepping outside on this beautiful day, Telin found Klaus indulging in the sunshine as well, but as a practice of something resembling cynic and stoic philosophy, they showed resignation.
Today, the last building has been moved successfully, and the sisters were overjoyed by the sight of the plaza. We might even get Sable to step outside, some time.
Lobo left. And he seems to be going for imitations, this time. Speaking of going, some kind of wonder might have happened, as he walked, indeed. Maybe he was just tired the previous days.
As it was time for the daily checkup, Ozzie was nowhere to be found, even Angus hadn't seen him around, and that bull is outside all day long. He only mentioned that Telin calls themself Diva nowadays, with a faraway stare in his face.
And then there was Marshal, having that one strange coffee with Friga at his place, going through an existential crisis, and singing at the same time. We'd appreciate it if anyone could tell him whether he prefers Telin or Friga.
Night came by sooner than usual, although Cranston had just woken up, infected with the yoga spirit spread by Friga.
Flora had finally come home as well and we have no idea what she did all day. She seemed a little zoned out, but there isn't even enough stone on this island, how could there be any other substances?
Telin wasn't in the mood for conversation, so they set out to work on the vineyard - just at least this enhancement has to be granted, even before the holy district.
A. D. VIII KAL. IUN. - PRID. KAL. IUN. ANNO 2773 MAY 25 - MAY 31, 2020
A. D. VIII KAL. IUN. - May 25
What a truly immoral day in our honorable colony! Despite the rain, the villagers gathered outside, talking about popular uses of technology. Indeed, we do use a Nookphone, but that is purely for research purposes, not for taking pictures of ourselves. That is up to the painters, the craftsmen. You listening to us, Flora?
At first, we thought Angus hadn't fallen for this blasphemy - but then he revealed this unbearable avaritia of his. May the gods have mercy on his corpus... At least he's a social bull, liking the company on the island. But, remember: Σιγὴ χρυσός ἐστιν.
After that, the gods must surely have been dissatisfied: Look at the spots picked for the fossils today! It's no wonder Blathers is equally as dissatisfied.
Klaus got interrupted on his splendid bidet, browsing literature of various kinds once again, all while staying in his "shrine... to myself... for me". Of course, Klaus has never, ever left the house when it rained (or at least that's what we reluctantly conclude).
Oddly enough, Lobo couldn't be seen outside as well - he, on the other hand, buried himself in fashion by Someone. Let's make a guess who put that bee in the bonnet, huh?
Brightening up the day through all this misfortune, Isabelle told us we had reached four stars - with too much clutter on the ground, but we only need some more storage room.
Later in the day, braving the storm, we planted the grapevines Leif had sent us with utmost joy (and empathy, but hardly because of our wine crisis).
A. D. VII KAL. IUN. - May 26
With the rain gone, the heat is intensifying from day to day now. Ah, the infamous beginning of summer! The first one in the colony, that is.
Ozzie bathed in the sun with a can of unknown liquid right behind the message board, dozing off...
Meanwhile, Klaus engaged in intense training, all while being awkwardly watched by Lupo. We wonder when those two might ever get into contact - Klaus generally isn't the shy kind, after all.
So, a "blast of inspiration running into your brain" it was, you say, Marshal? Well, we only see Snake speeding by. Anyway, Diva, the Fairy Godmother (what an horrendous title!) made way for maestro. Now, that's more like it.
Oooh, but the nights are cold, yet not a single soul bothered to go home. Sleep? Unheard of on here. Therefore, Telin gave into their gardening desires to beautify the entrance to the insulae.
A. D. VI KAL. IUN. - May 27
Alliteration day, take 1: Cranston's creepy. However, Telin appreciated his effort to be like his grandmother as they would love to get to know her (reasons left unclear). In the end, the island representative never told US anything about their family.
Pretty much everyone seemed to mind their own businesses - Friga zipped around staring at her to-do list, Snake hunted grasshoppers, his distant relatives - apart from Angus and Lobo. Man, we know that wolf is dying to have a conversation with Klaus - he is an avid rock appreciator as well, after all - but of course, he bonds with Angus over oil barrels first. He, on the other hand, didn't see this as much of a special occasion. Remember what we told you before, Angus.
Busy as he is, we even had to get him his planner back. We know, he didn't ask for it, but it brings bad luck to keep such things... and we already peeked into it. An old planner, with tally marks on the last pages, up to twelve, nothing too exciting, so there you go. He didn't even look relieved to have it back... Maybe we should have kept it.
And a casual note dropping by: Hazel put up her tent on the stage. What a shame, as peppy squirrel that we might never see again, but Marshal already demands all of our attention.
My dear, Klaus, we told you to stay inside after your workout so late at night! His temperature climbed up to 98.7°, he told us, he was burning up, and after swallowing the medicine whole, he almost fainted. May we suggest you drink some more water and don't stay in the bath for several hours? Or on the cold bidet made from fine china, for that matter?
With Celeste stargazing together with Carrie ("the C-sis", forming a thesis...), Telin studied soft clouds drifting by a fragile moon - it might come in handy, someday.
A. D. V KAL. IUN. - May 28
An ostrich-filled rainy day - what did we expect, anyway? Cranston discussed color theory - y'know, those colors that make your eyes feel funny? - no, you are NOT going to be in charge of our frescoes. Meanwhile, Flora chased a poor grasshopper family.
Marshal fell victim to his dust allergy, describing it as "spacy", always happening on Thursdays. Yet, as he told us with pride, he has found a cure: Listening to bhangra. Yeah, it was nice talking to you, see you later, bye...
Klaus and Lobo aren't ever destined to meet: A grumpy bear left his domus, placing himself right next to Lobo's residence. He, on the other hand, stared at products awkwardly, what a pain shopping is, isn't it?
Since spacy Thursday is N(d)-less, Telin checked on all residents of the colony. This might seem like stalking at times, but they persist it's for a higher cause. In addition, some of them haven't been seen for days, and the regular groups had seemingly parted ways.
Upon entering Ozzie's house - it wasn't locked, nor was there a message at the door - we noticed an unfamiliar smell. What kind of food did that koala cook up? Why hasn't anyone reported this to Isabelle?
However, we deeply regret to inform you that Ozzie was found liveless on the dark floor. He has gone to a better place now, may the gods accept. The cause of his demise is yet to be investigated.
Having informed the residents, everyone agreed to bid farewell to our beloved neighbor.
The rest of the day went by with a haze, truly spacy. A frightened Friga taught us what an instense gaze looked like, and after that, Telin agreed to expand on the residential area of the vineyard. Poor Klaus couldn't phrase a sensible sentence, so we sent him over to comfort Friga.
A. D. IV KAL. IUN. - May 29
There are two possibilities: Angus either wants to redeem himself, or he has some kind of complex. Whatever it is, he has now become a life advice giving mentor figure.
Ozzie's passing has, as expected, left a mark on this colony; Friga went on and on about food and, frankly, you shouldn't have told her anything about parfaits, Telin. Anyway, she's hoarse now, so that should be dealt with.
Meanwhile, Klaus couldn't keep his eyebrows up when he told us about a new neighbor moving in, and Carrie seemed to hide behind fashion.
Not letting themselves get distracted, Telin settled at the airport - understandably, coffee for free - and toured the seas. After almost falling for Papi in the pouring rain (he, on the other hand, sought refuge behind the trees) and playing cards with both Wilbur and Vladimir, Telin clung to Tammi, eventually, even though she was totally hyped and rambled about skirts. On the way back, they fell asleep and had to be woken up from some nightmare. Will a new inhabitant help the islanders with their worries?
A. D. III KAL. IUN. - May 30
Conspiracy theories are the latest hot thing around again, this time more rooted in nature - yeah, Cranston... Think you're right... The clouds definitely are up to something.
Oh boy, somebody, please, make them stop. Telin, leave the gods at their shrines...
They almost didn't make it to Tammi in time - she was busy setting up her home herself, yes, the building, she insisted on doing so, despite the mass of clouds hanging above the city's rooftops.
After that, Telin discussed road construction with Klaus (on his wonderful bidet), and was then forced to sit down and listen by Lobo. He read a few paragraphs from a dusty book, something about philosophy, but Telin just pointed out Klaus.
Rather surprising, however, was that Lobo later composed folk songs out in the wild. Meanwhile, K.K.'s habitual performance of famous compositions delighted both Telin and Angus, who had come in pajamas. Rad.
With the rain having stopped, Telin began to prepare the necropolis. Considering the circumstances, this does seem incredibly macabre, but it's purely practical, rational.
PRID. KAL. IUN. - May 31
With spring coming to an end (and an house expansion just around the corner), temperatures climbed up high and everybody either sought a cool spot or stayed indoors - especially at Friga's, it isn't only her who enjoys the cool.
Tammi didn't seem bothered at all by the surrounding madness in her hunt for sparkly items. The Nook brothers expressed yet unknown reactions hearing her exclamations.
Saying goodbye to spring, Telin gifted a scorpion to Blathers.
KAL. IUN. - PRID. NON. IUN. ANNO 2773 JUNE 1 - JUNE 4, 2020
KAL. IUN. - June 1
With the arrival of summer's heat, life throughout daytime has slowed down on the island; however, the income through popsicles is skyrocketing, to our representative's dismay. Harvey had called Telin early in the morning, and after some gruesome minutes of beating around the bush, he confessed that he had "a little problem". Well, if it's that small, we see no need to drop by immediately!
Especially Marshal didn't take the sudden heat very well.
Meanwhile, Friga and Klaus both bathed in the sun, discussing what seems like a monarchy. Turns out, they felt intrigued by our large theater, but so far, the planning stage might not ever come to an end.
Luckily, Redd has finally responded to our pleas, but there was no sight of statues anywhere. Still, Blathers will be delighted by this addition to the art section, a gorgeous mysterious painting.
Eventually, and Tom Nook knows as well, Telin would pay off the house loan. After all, wading through clothes dropped all around town can only be fun for a certain amount of time. But an expansion for over a million bells? Precor...
Cranston, for some reason, has picked up on the maestro craze. Whatever floats your boat, be it Diva or maestro, both are somewhat valid, Telin confessed - they had already had other nicknames.
Since all other businesses had been taken care of - and only because we felt, we must admit, a little bored - we set out for Harv's isle. Not in a rush, of course, Wilbur and Telin took their time to discuss what took place right in front of them.
Wedding photos? Well, of course, Telin would never refuse an offer/experience, even if this includes taking photos of flirting alpacas through a strong smell of frying fat. Somewhere, Telin had heard of them before.
Later in the day, while all other villagers were indulging in ice cream, ambitious Telin planted the last few grapevines.
But not only that, with the construction work on the necropolis, a lot of barren ground had to be populated by beautiful, yet lonely plantlife.
As it cooled down, Telin took on the task of the thermopolium, with a slight change to the original plan of the colony: It is situated in front of the baths, not behind the port. Therefore, the southern district might stay a little chaotic for now.
A. D. IV NON. IUN. - June 2
Speaking of the underworld: Heavy clouds darkened the sky this morning. Tammi, on the other hand, sent Telin a sparkling letter congratulating them on the second story. Someone's seeking social interaction, huh? We found her wandering about aimlessly near the plaza.
A little more delightful was the suckerfish we caught unintentionally - if the gods weren't in such bad spirits, we'd gather some more and send them over with C.J. or Flick, whoever is struck by destiny first.
Haven't we told you about Cranston's obsession with his grandmother?
Next up, we have Carrie and Flora together... again. They must be bound to meet once a week (or even more often?), but what exactly is the purpose of it all?
Telin didn't report just about anything today, so we had some detective work to do. To be exact, they didn't say a word, not even to Reese and Cyrus. But it looks like Angus has started to call Telin maestro as well, and Tammi was found dripping in the rain on the beach.
However, Telin left some photos of the vineyard:
Wait, is that Telin cuddling with an eel?
A. D. III NON. IUN. - June 3
Excitement: June is spoiling us with shooting stars tonight! Might that be a win for our aesthetic decoration?
But in the meantime, Angus brightens up the day with another letter full of life advice. Unfortunately, Telin might not be the optimal person to receive them.
What was Marshal's intent this morning? Was that spiteful? Or business at the Able Sisters'? Well, if you want a stare-off, you can have it.
Sometimes, time is crawling, and one is satisfied with just about any activity - such as plans for the future... on the toilet. Maybe we'll just stick to the artisan orange stand for a while, construction on the macellum is to be started soon.
Admittedly, even with the start of summer, this week is rather boring, and Telin directs their ambition towards other projects, such as ships in a bottle, or taking care of flowers, so we'll just finish with a shooting star. Which is part of an hour of productive work, too.
PRID. NON. IUN. - June 4
Another boring, rainy day in Helkaplont, as usual. Summer heat, still lingering through all the pouring rain, slows island business down tremendously.
Cranston asked Carrie for book suggestions, and she named Way of the Workbench and Flightless Fowl, Swimless Fish, none of which have any pictures in them, the latter however was turned into a popcorn movie. Overhearing this conversation, Telin invited Cranston over for the evening as they collect pretty terrible media of all kinds for unknown reasons.
Klaus must have spent the night with something other than sleeping, he wasn't very responsive when we checked on him. We hope our conversation yesterday didn't mess him up too much.
After digging up Gulliver's technology once again, we were surprised by a whale shark. MASSIVE. Even more so as we expected a suckerfish instead. However, the shark's container isn't aesthetically pleasing, and we wonder how a model might look.
NON. IUN. - A. D. VII ID. IUN. ANNO 2773 JUNE 5 - JUNE 7, 2020
Not much having happened this weekend, we compiled those days in one entry.
Friday, the day of contrast and the contrary, a day without an N, started off with Friga telling us that the island breeze carries all her worries away. Meanwhile, the others took part in a literal sit-in - but since there is no N in Friday, Telin didn't feel obliged to ask any of them. They could just follow Friga's example.
Telin was rather unamused by Tammi's ramblings on music shows - "no, I will not permit the use of televisions" - named Love Star, Screech Along, Beep Boot Deet Doop, and Fancy Freestyling, respectively. Do dogs and monkeys mix well? Isabelle is (openly) guilty of this crime as well.
Klaus stayed true to his virtus, refraining from voluptas while at the Able Sisters'. We suspect he might have taken care of some other business, but he only showed us shoes.
Saturday was rather uneventful as well, with a sunny sky and mild rain in the morning. Even without our offer, Isabelle already has engaged in Tammi's blasphemy.
Poor Flora, all nervous, wanted to share her deepest insecurities with Telin - "you know, how, like, moving to a new house, like, feels so weird" - but Telin was a choice just as poor as Flora looked. At least Telin might not tell anyone, as they look to have stopped talking in general.
Telin was kinda like a spaceman on Sunday, totally classic. It all comes down to the definition.
After 306 assessments, the final fossil has been donated to the museum!
And so we conclude this week with some fishing, as there is a thermopolium without food on this plot of land. No goldfish in sight, but a dorado.

Meditation. Isn't it hot out there, Lobo?
Ad summam, Klaus sleeps in an electric waterbed, while Marshal praises white noise, but Klaus calls his personal version paisley noise. Only one question left to answer: Could they share a room at night?
Negotiations (about sleep). Cranston needs a jack-of-all-trades bed, like his beach towel.
We don't do that around here, Tammi.
"Occasional Cowboy Party"
Lobo, you have to drink the coffee. Don't you know already? Do we need to send Marshal?
You sure Cranston's the right way?
Talking to Lobo, Klaus landed on the topic of dreams, of Telin having told him that they wanted to become a school teacher. Should anyone trust them? Well, we can't know for certain.
Tammi and Angus being so futuristic, wow. Good thing Telin didn't get to see this.

Barren, unworthy of Persephone's devotion, φεῦ μου, won't anyone help set stone upon stone?
Nature is slowly reclaiming the land. Is it us, angering the Gods? Must we abandon our studia philosophiae, Freya?
Nature, enacting the Gods' will.
Will it suffice? Helkaplont has yet to amass the copia for its first temple, ergo this is the best Telin could do.
Then why don't you come over AND PRAY?
Didn't know you were working out, Lobo. But what exactly do you mean by "leanin' toward"?
Her second day and already going strong. Lobo does not approve.
Hold up, Telin's authentic barba is tingling. Something fishy, something insidious is being spun here, and threatening the holy salus of the populus Helpaplontis!
The straw, the final straw, you have reached it, Norma. You will have go (voluntarily, of course). There will be no conspiracies. Did Telin overreact? That is not for us to decide, on this newly established colony. We're glad Telin is our governor. Still, when will elections be held, the res publica affirmed? Is this the source of the people's impatience?
Your spending habits, Klaus, you wretched Cyrenaic, watch them...
Oh, no, you don't. Not again.
Surely she's here to help, isn't she?
This marked the beginning of Klaus's frequent ailments and Carrie's end.
A plea for help Telin cannot follow.
In a moment of quiet after his recovery, Klaus opened up about his very understandable wish. After consultation with the Gods, however, his fates have been determined to unfold here, in this colony.
Igitur, what about a law on laughing as Helkaplont's first political proposal? The lex Cranestonia de risu?
The first step. We feel it's important to emphasize that Cranston began his moral amendment voluntarily, and that anyone seen here has absolutely no involvement.
Is that tension speaking? We cannot let friends go against friends (both in general and for now). Klaus has gotten himself into a precarious situation, but we cannot interfere.
It's fascinating how Lobo just knows what is to be done - he might be an efficient mentor to Cranston. With him being a wolf, he must share a special bond with Apollo.
This could be election season... But Telin seems to be in no hurry.
Conspiracies. Someone seems to be getting a tad unpopular around here.
KAL. IUL. et A. D. VI NON. IUL - July 1 and July 2
With Snake gone to spread word of our cozy colony, Telin spent all day (in the rain) looking for a new soul to join our parade. Norma was the chosen one, but we suppose the rain was too loud to understand Telin's efforts. Anyway, salve, Norma!
A. D. V NON. IUL. - July 3
With temperatures climbing up to unbearable heights, we finally got the permission to allow swimming and diving! Creatures lurking in the deeps... on surface-level...
A. D. VIII ID. IUL. - July 8
Returning from the usual evening safety procedures, Telin reported the unsettling discovery of what seems to have been a pirate. From the Representative's description, he strangely resembles that other rascal who frequently demands shelter on our sacred grounds, but Telin is convinced he's somebird completely different and, worse yet, a pirate, evidence of a far more serious threat looming outside our bay and, perhaps, the cause of Helkaplont's failing to contact our allies. Sacrifices to our patron Gods will be in order.
ID. IUL. - July 15
Although Telin dares not admit it, Helkaplont's civitas seems to be preceding the state. Not only exterior threats, but also conspiracies and the very first would-be court case!
EDIT July 21: Angus forces us to commit to his petty lawsuit.
EDIT July 24: It has become a matter of life or death.
A. D. IV KAL. AUG. - July 29
On yet another unbearably hot summer's day, our beloved citizen Flora packed her bags (several truck loads of plushies and gadgets, that is) and, lastly, agreed to have the phone lines cut. And while this might decrease the strain on our colony significantly, Carrie was unable to see the benefits and refused to leave the house.
It is important to note, hoever, that when Telin left her, the Representative wouldn't elaborate on what happened inside, and still refuses to include Carrie in public decisions. Which are rather scarce, and which is only semi-legal.
Flora had opened up about her wish to move on the day before, and we would see her own thirst for fame at fault, if we did not know of Telin's remodeling plans.
PRID. KAL. AUG. - July 31
Night had long fallen when Telin welcomed the colony's most recent member, Jakey. This tropical misfit had, for unknown reasons, pushed the Representative to bring him along. Rightfully, Telin kept the whole operation undercover.

Excavations, a new dawn of civilization.
A proper statesman, enriching his philosophical studies with agricultural expertise. We expect to bear our first harvest of Helkaplont-grown wine soon.
A. D. IV NON. AUG. - August 2 Virtuously fulfilling the Representative's duties, Telin tended to the citizens' requests and opinions on this bright summer day. Klaus proved himself yet again a conscientious member of our republic - worthy of future titles, Telin noted - by reflecting on friendship, never losing sight of the practical side of philosophy. Telin left the recipient of the bear's affection undisclosed.
Jakey, on the other hand, is already hinting at some less than favorable motivations for settling in Helkaplont. With divine favor bestowed upon our land, those evils he speaks of would only threaten our land for its inhabitants' misdeeds, but Telin watches closely over each and every one's worship. What, o Jakey, inspires then your fear?
Through our valiant effort, Helkaplont saw its very first display of the flaming arts, engineered by a mysterious pioneer in such crafts whose name slipped Telin's mind. We all rejoiced in this magnificent play of lights in honor of the maiden Persephone, granting us rich bounty and speedy growth, and the mighty Hephaistos, father of all such crafts, aiding us mercifully in construction.
BONUS: a hint at the object of Klaus's worries, at the occasion for his flowery efforts? What happened that night?
A. D. IV ID. AUG. - August 10 A frenzy of material envy swept the island, leaving a trail of animosity. While Telin heavily suspects newcomer Jakey of being the source of these unwelcome influences, the Representative also insisted on needing a thorough philosophical education program.
A. D. III ID. AUG. - A. D. XIX KAL. SEPT. - August 11-14 Scouting for help in such studies, Telin began instructing the most promising (or vocal) candidate.
Nevertheless, prayers and a sacrifice were in order.
Over the course of the following days, we could already see the fruit of our work:
A. D. X KAL. SEPT. - August 23 With the fourth and second to last spectacle, more and more citizens venture out to gather at the forum, some even trying their own hand at the craft.
Away from the hustle, Telin spent some quality time with a longtime resident and potential aid in the philosophical education (which was the only reason for their meeting, of course).
A. D. VI KAL. SEPT. - August 27 Without further comment from Telin, we were informed of Carrie's wish to embark on a new adventure and trust that the Representative is judging correctly.

SALVE! CUR NON DESCENDIS? ... [silentium]
Eagles of one nest, the nest is in their soul
NON. SEPT. - September 5 Just north of the busy forum, Helkaplont's very own thermae have begun to grow. Adorned with masterfully done mosaic flooring, we invite all residents and visitors alike to recenter themselves and reflect while enjoying the cool ocean waters, for now.
A. D. IV ID. SEPT. - September 10 In keeping with our recent exploits, crucial developments marked this day. As visitors begin to frequent this island and citizens must be, well, protected (from themselves, from other residents), Lobo and Angus rightfully recognized the need for a guard and promptly submitted their proposal to Representative Telin.
We were finally able to fill the vacancy left by Carrie as Telin invited an unsuspecting looking cat nomine Rudy to join Helkaplont. No reasons were stated in the paperwork, which might fuel some gossip among the population.
A. D. XII KAL. OCT. - September 20 Our beloved Norma celebrated her birthday today, donning her most beautiful attire and lovingly tended to by Tammi, both of whom had spent the previous days preparing indulgent dishes. Since Representative Telin was sadly hindered by duty to attend the festivities at a later time, a certain resident's visit cannot be confirmed.
A. D. IX KAL. OCT. - September 23 An unlikely visitor made his way downhill to make the most of Cranston's birthday, Lobo, providing the scared ostrich with a much-needed sense of security as he rejoiced in this event he had been anticipating for so long. Any indulgences were denied to have happened, which must be believed, since Telin spent several hours in their company - Representative duty.
A. D. IIX KAL. OCT. - September 24 Cranston woke up late, spending a rose-tinted late afternoon with a cool glass of leftover orange juice. With so many festivities concluded, Norma and Tammi, on the other hand, are still plagued by the aftermath, and we hope they did not anger any immortals.
NON AFFUISTI.
NIHIL VIDISTI.
A. D. III KAL. OCT. - September 29 After some much-needed respite, the island was plunged into the next celebration with Marshal's birthday, announced months in advance and orchestrated as a sort of coffee party, Cranston trying his best not to disappoint (or need a doctor). He offered a rather convincing, yet still puzzling hint at the source of his composure.
Telin decided to leave them to it, expecting the place to become crammed soon, and instead took to constructing more of the insulae

The darker times' warmth:
Committed, trying, not coerced.
PRID. NON. OCT. - October 6 Another gloomy early October night saw some ambiguous developments. Firstly, we expect to bid Friga farewell tomorrow, who explained that, having braved the summer's heat and seeing more and more construction of so-called distasteful aesthetics on the island, she wishes to return to cooler spheres. Not being invited to Marshal's birthday, or intentionally opting out and having to listen to the whole ordeal next door, might also have factored into her decision.
Speaking of construction, Helkaplont's sacred district is being reconstructed rapidly, a new staircase soon to allow access to the first level of the Maiden's hill.
NON. OCT. - October 7 A very heartfelt conversation marked Friga's departure, who opted for a more minimalist approach to moving away. Telin, intent on honoring her early involvement, vowed to stay in touch "for as long as possible".
Celebrations soon seized the populace, trying to chase the night's gloom away, as the first step to the Maiden Persephone's sanctuary saw the light of day, Friga persuaded by Telin to join them one last time, hoping for the deity's favor.
A. D. VIII et VII ID. OCT. - October 8-9 Warm baths, a place for long dialogues about the meaning of life seem like a welcome project facing the onslaught of cold after Persephone's departure, hence the Representative, quite taciturn all day, took to providing a basic inventory for the thermae, as well as beginning construction on the upper staircase at the Maiden's sanctuary.
The next day, Telin put the tepidarium (warm room) in use, featuring no water, but heated bronze benches along the walls; the compartments for garments and ornamental flourishes are yet to be added.
A. D. VI et V ID. OCT. - October 10-11 Having regained the strength to face the looming vacancy by taking care of the above necessities, Telin ventured out to welcome a virtuous candidate. After rejecting a quarrelsome jitterbug (Peck) and an overly eager to please bush of green fur (Lyman), a mystical, starry blue sheep floated cautiously closer to the Representative who, raptured by her sheer elegance, invited Baabara.
The following day, Baabara quietly made her way up the hill next to Marshal, shyly refusing to introduce herself in such a state of disorder.
Over the course of the next few days, she would be seen busying herself at the forum, yet still reluctant to approach her fellow residents, being heavily side-eyed by Klaus.
A. D. XIV KAL. NOV. - October 19 Another night, eerily warm, Baabara having retired to the beachside reaches of Helkaplont, thinking... but not staying alone any longer. Welcome.
Meanwhile, mosaic flooring is being refined.
A. D. V et IV KAL. NOV. - October 28-29 Telin agreed to some residents' suggestions of a new kind of festival, the spirit of which seems to have a firm grip on the whole populace of Helkaplont. While the Representative insisted on orchestrating them as the Thesmophoria, we regret to inform Telin that few grasp this celebration's purpose, and that, for lack of a suitable sanctuary, we should settle on a compromise.
A discussion concerning this issue took place the following day, yet even Klaus remained more eager to commit to those newer rituals. Tammi proved herself an excellent mediator.
A. D. III KAL. NOV. - October 30 Still not caving in, Telin at least wanted to decorate the bleak entrance to the sacred district. No fear of holy disapproval involved!
PRID. KAL. NOV. - October 31 Making the ritual procession alone, Telin nonetheless engaged in the residents' manner of celebrating along the way, many of whom had donned fearsome costumes and took pleasure in our hard work's sweet bounty.
