I'm not going to do a spoiler, by the title alone it should be an indicator that triggering subjects maybe discussed.

I found out that Raymond's birthday (October 1st) is the same as my mom's death day... and this has made me want to get him even more.

I found my mom dead at 16. It wasnt some morbid scene, just death in her sleep. But still a pretty traumatic experience to say the least.

Even before she died, animal crossing has always been a for of escapism for me... and since she has died, its even more surreal when the "letters from mom" come in. Especially on my birthday.

Usually I send her death day either ignoring it, spending time with my aunt or gma, or making some sort of flower arrangement to go put on her grave.

The idea of now having something like a celebration of life on that day, since you do celebrate villagers birthdays with them if you want, in my greatest escapism outlet sounds... perfect.

So far in my town I dont have a dedication for her. Maybe now I'd surround Raymond's house in blue roses and white cosmos once I get him? Her fave flowers were white daisies (closest in game are cosmos) and blue roses. Makes sense to me to surround his house in them then as more of my own subtle memorial for her.

I do have a remembrance area for my Gpa... who died the same year... It was a rough year... He was a bee keeper who showed me the love of apples, so I have an apple orchard surrounding some beehives for him.

Welp. Now I am rambling. I just needed somewhere to let out my thoughts. Maybe someone else will enjoy the idea of it.

Do you have anything in your town to remember someone or something that has passed?
Do you want villagers for weird and overall ****ed up reasons?

Sorry for your loss. Dealing with death even long after the fact is never easy but it's always good to have people and things around you that remind you of the happier parts of life. I've had two deaths in my family in the past few months and I'll probably make some sort of little memorial or part of a room that reminds me of them. The only villager I really want right now is Bob, he's been my favorite since day one and I'll do whatever it takes to find him.

I'm sorry for your loss... losing more than one at once always leaves you more lost since you dont get much time for closure.

I have Bob's amiibo. T^T
If villager adoptions weren't still glitched, I'd be happy to help you get him... but who knows when Nintendo will patch the patch they have already done. ^^;

Yeah, hopefully they patch that soon. If I ever run into Raymond on a mystery island I'll be sure to hold on to him for you :)

Oh, I’m so sorry for your loss. It sounds like it must have been a hard year for you, so I’m sorry you went through that. I’m glad you’re sharing this with us, and feel free to vent about it, too. I’m also glad you find something in the game to remember her by.

I got some amiibos for my dreamies so I won’t be using my remaining NMT, would you like them? I hope they can help you find Raymond

Back in New Leaf, I chose to have Punchy for awhile (and bought his amiibo) to remember my cat that passed on during that time. He was a black and white stray I took in and seeing a little virtual look-alike was comforting during that time.

The mother letters are somewhat difficult for me as well. Sometimes I read them but mostly I don't. I didn't lose my mother to her passing but I do not have a mother for other reasons. So, family things (mother's day/father's day, etc) are somewhat bittersweet for me. Just wanted to share that your comment resonated with me on the letters. (virtual hug)

I'm sorry for your family members passings. I think your ideas of remembrance for your grandfather and your mother are very beautiful. I hope you get him soon. <3

Sending so much love to you! You are a very strong person to have made it through a loss like that. I can't say I have any villagers that I seek out for reasons other than because I think they look nice, but I think it's really lovely that you can have a way of remembering your mother in that way. The flowers are a really sweet idea

You both are very kind, but nothing like that is necessary. ^-^
He is highly sought after and NMT are worth a lot. I'll get him eventually. No rush at all on my part.
I dont TT so having an open plot is slim and far between. Gives me lots of time to accumulate tickets. =3 I think I have about 40 or so saved (earned myself, no trading for them so far with this bunch) so hopefully by the time I have a spot open I'll have around 70-100 to do some hardcore searching. @.@

:) in any case, I’ll probably be giving away my tickets regardless (I don’t visit islands often, anyways). So if you change your mind, PM me!

I'm so sorry for the losses you experienced. Your idea of having your mom's favorite flowers set up around Raymond's house sounds lovely, a really nice way to have a little nod to her in your town.

I lost my best friend last year, and I've been toying with the thought of having some sort of memorial to her in my town. But I'm having difficulty toeing the line between "subtle dedication" and "constant reminder that will just be painful in the long run". I might just have to let the idea wait, although I do think having a small section of flowers that only I know are for her is a good idea, so thank you for that. :)

Do you plan on getting punchy again in NH? Especially since you have his amiibo. ^-^

Strong is a word for it. Really callused is better tho. Lol.
Traumatic stuff just gives you a darker sense of humor and a better appreciation for the small things I guess?
Collecting adorable pixels is what Animal Crossing is all about. ^-^

I'm sorry for your loss... the death day for one of my friends is coming up in a couple weeks... makes for 2 years since her death.
TW: murder, suicide

She was killed in a murder, suicide incident when she tried to leave her abusive husband. Her friend was on the phone with police when he shot her then himself.. left behind 3 children... two of them too young to know what is going on.

A lot of us advocate or do fundraisers/donation chains for shelters for women in domestic violence situations.
When I got the news of her death, I was looking right at a picture of a kitten I was thinking about adopting irl. I knew immediately I had to have this kitten. And this kitten would be named after her! ... and so I drove 6hrs to adopt this kitten. Lol Her name is Olmi (all-me) because my friends maiden name was Olmsted.
On rough days, I look at my kitten (well she is part maincoon so she is NOT little kitten anymore and is like 14lb) and remember the good times with her...
I don't share photos of her often though, since even on rough days for some of my friends (despite how cute and precious my fluff looks) seeing how big she has gotten reminds us of how long our friend has been gone.
Having some stagnant helps I guess? Since it doesnt remind you just how long it has been.

I super get this, yeah. I have two villagers who share a death day with loved ones and though it might be a bit.. morbid.. It's also sorta nice? It helps me celebrate better things over being bummed out for a day or more. Those villagers tend to get pretty good birthday gifts, haha. I'm sorry for your loss though but I'm glad others deal with things similarly. Grief coping is wild. ^^

Coping mechanisms really are wild. Lol
I really like seeing how people used sort of unconventional or not as straightforward was of showing dedication.

I actually just tried scanning him a few times thinking about it haha. But he kept requesting cardboard items so I'll need to save up some boxes first. :) But it works for the best since I'll have a second town on monday lol to put him in.
