A possibly silly HHP question

I have a smooth brain so bare with me if this is silly but

I've designed seven houses, I just scanned in Judy and chose for her to go on the same plot as Willow, I wanted them to share it but when we got to the plot it was empty and just Judys house... so how do I share plots? and does that mean that HHP is like HHD where you can use the same plot with multiple villagers separately? Im a tad confused.

After you've done your 16th house, you will unlock the Roommates option.

It's still there. The icon on the map only shows the latest villager that used the plot. So no need to worry. You can choose to use one plot for all villagers if you want. XD

Making them roommates is a separate feature that gets unlocked later. Not exactly sure how many houses you have to do to get that, but I Know you have to do about 30 to unlock everything.

If you haven't unlocked the roommates feature, Judy's house and Willow's house will be treated separately even if they share the same spot on the map. It won't delete either house and I don't think there's a limit to how many houses you can place on a single plot... the different plots are just a cosmetic thing.

If you make the roommates, you'll lose one of the houses. The villager moving in has their house deleted, which isn't a big deal if you wanted to redecorate. It's kind of a hassle when you'd like villagers to be roommates but they both have houses you're super proud of
