Heyyyy

so I am breeding, for the first time ever, my own competitive pokemon (Mareanie)

I want to ask a question about viability- I can not get further than fantastic on some of the stats i want maxed, but will this give it noticeably lower stats? if so i would have to keep breeeding, but it will take forever because i only have 2 maxed ivs out of the 4 i want. As an added question- tips for passing down ivs? Lol.

Thank you!

Compared to other competitive Pokemon, having less than 31 IVs can make a pretty big difference. I was lazy with breeding my Dragonite and it only has "Pretty Good" IVs in Attack while everything else was perfect. There were countless times when I could've 1 Hit KO or 2 Hit KO Pokemon, but I was just a tiny bit short of it which is incredibly frustrating.

For passing down IVs, try to get a 6IV Ditto if you can. By SOS chaining Dittos, you can also get 4 IV ones which are easier to get. I also recommend Wonder Trade because people often trade away their breeding rejects which can sometimes have pretty good IVs. If you have another Pokemon with good IV's in the same egg group as your Pokemon, that can be used as an alternative to Ditto. But mostly I just recommend a perfect 6 IV Ditto because it makes breeding perfect IVs really easy. You could also try Hyper Training, but that method is really time consuming.

What you'll ideally want to do is track down a 6 IV Ditto, either on these forums or elsewhere, and use that to breed IVs onto things. You stick a Destiny Knot on the Ditto and an Everstone on the other Pokemon, assuming the Pokemon in question has the Nature you want. Slowly but surely, the Pokemon that hatch from the eggs will have better IVs, because Destiny Knot passes 5 IVs between both parents onto the offspring. When you get a Pokemon that has better stats than the initial Pokemon you put in, swap it out so it can breed with the Ditto. Repeat as many times as necessary to increase your odds, and eventually you will hatch a Pokemon with as many perfect IVs as you want.

You may as well try to get a Japanese 6 IV Ditto while you're at it so you can be doing the Masuda Method at the same time and maybe hatch some shinies, if you're interested in that.

Good luck.

TRhe destiny knot passes 5 ivs randomly, get a good IV ditto and get on breeding. I have a 5 IV and it usually goes kinda fast until i have a good breeding parent, wich i breed with the ditto after.
