A question about posting/editing etc. and TBT currency

Hey there, despite having this account for quite some time, I only just started using it over the past few days. Could someone explain how TBT works with posting? Under currency it shows that I earn and spent TBT from making and editing posts. How does this work? Why are bells taken away for edits? Hope I'm making sense

when you edit a post it recalculates. to give you bells based on the edit. so if you write an essay worth 10 tbt bells, but then realize it was pointless and edit it so it says "nvm" you're going to lose all the bells from the post since the forum recalculates and recognizes it as a new post.
basically you only lose bells if you edit your post and it's shorter than the original length, otherwise you gain them back

Alright, so if I were to update a list based on what I'm selling, it would be wiser to strikeout items sold than delete them?
