Setup Information
This game uses a Blind Open setup. All roles and mechanics are known. When a player dies, they will not flip. It is further recommended you read this OP in full.Roles:
All roles are present and only one of each role exists in the game.
Town (10):
Town wins when all the Witches are dead.
Inquisitor: Every night you may find out the alignment of a player.
Acolyte: At the beginning of the game, you learn the identity of the Inquisitor.
Judge: If day ends with no majority decision, you may secretly decide who to lynch.
Exorcist: If town is lynched on two consecutive days, you may kill any player of your choosing on the following night.
Oracle: Every night you may visit a player. If that player is visited by anyone else during the night, you will learn how many witches were alive at the start of that night. Valid visits include:
Witch Kill, Exorcist Kill, Inquisitor check, Wraith haunt, Angelic protection - even if Death has been summoned (see Game Mechanics section)
Martyr: At the end of every night, you will learn who is to be killed that night. You can then choose to sacrifice yourself to save that player. Your heroic deed will be made obvious. If the witch kill is prevented or otherwise doesn't happen, you will learn nothing.
Grandier: At any time during the day, you may make a deal with the devil. You sacrifice your own life for the power to immediately lynch a player and end the day.
The Pope: If, at the beginning of any day, there are four or fewer people alive, you will be told who the remaining Witches are.
Crusader: When the witches or the lynch mob come for you, you will not go down quietly. You will make your last stand and can take down another player with you.
Wraith: Even in death you still haunt the living. Every night you can haunt a player, that player will know he was visited by the Wraith. If you visit Grandier or the Pope, they will learn your identity.
Witches (3):
Witches win when all Town are dead, or nothing can prevent that from happening.
Demon: At the end of every night you will learn the targets of the Inquisitor and the Oracle. You will not know who visited who.
Clairvoyant: At the end of the night you will learn the target of the Angelic Protection that night.
Necromancer: At the end of the night, you will learn the role of the player targeted by the Witch Kill.
Game Mechanics:
The usual mechanics of a Mafia game apply here. In addition:
Witch Kill
Every night, the Witches select a player to be killed.
Witches' Broth
Instead of carrying out a Witch Kill, the Witches can nominate one of their own to drink from their cauldron. The Witch will take a sip, then name a player and role, then take another sip and repeat the process.
This means that the Witch will attempt to match a player to their role, as many times as they like. However, they can only attempt to match a name and a role once per night. (ie. they cannot try to match the Oracle to two players on the same night). Each correctly matched player will be outright killed, with no protection possible. This continues until the Witch guesses incorrectly. When that happens, the Witch's identity will be revealed in a message: Playername the Witch tried to kill Targetname the [incorrect role] but failed. However, if the first target was incorrect, the message will instead read A Witch tried to kill Targetname the [incorrect role] but failed.
The Crusader will not be allowed to make a revenge kill if killed by Broth, and the Martyr will not have an opportunity to save anyone from the Broth kill.
The Holy Grail
On Day 1, in addition to the regular lynch vote, there is a plurality vote for the bearer of the Holy Grail. In the event of a tie, the Witches will decide who holds the Grail. Whoever holds the Holy Grail will have their voting power doubled. If the bearer of the Holy Grail dies, the Holy Grail is lost.
Angels and Angelic Protection
When you die, your part in this game is not over! Dead players will become Angels and become members of the Angel Chat (QT). Every night in the Angel Chat, the Angels can vote (majority) to bestow upon a player the Angelic Protection, protecting them from all normal kills for the night.
If there are less than four players alive at the start of a night, the Angels are unable to protect. Any dead Witches can still read and act on the information in their Witch QT, but may not post in it.
Summon Death
At any point during any day, any dead Witch can summon Death himself. This ability can only be used once during the game. Any protections used the following night will be ineffective. The Angels will still vote on their Angelic Protection target but it will not work. If the Martyr sacrifices himself, he will die, but his sacrifice will be in vain.
At dawn, the Angels will learn that Death was summoned the previous night, but they will not know who among them did it. The town will learn nothing.
Witch's Last Gasp
Any time a Witch dies during the day, their power can still be used for the coven until the end of the following night.

You will not be notified of anything you don't need to know. This includes surviving an attempt on your life.

Game Setup Rules:
PMs
PMs and other out-of-thread communication are NOT allowed UNLESS you are explicitly told otherwise. If you are caught discussing the game outside of the thread (PMs, VMs, IRC, Skype etc..), you will suffer greatly.
Activity:
You must vote every day you are alive, and must post at least once every full day/night cycle.
Wisdom of the Crowds
Wisdom of the Crowds is not in effect.
Replacements
This game uses replacements. Replacements will be made up until the end of Night 2.
Time Cycle:
This game follows a 48/24 cycle. Deadlines will always be at 11PM BST (GMT + 1). This means that Night will be extended as required. There will be a one hour resolution period before the end of night.
Smurfs:
Smurfs and Hydras are not allowed.
Encryption:
Don't do it.
Rules:
Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like handing out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM timings to try and work out roles.
5. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host without permission.
6. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
7. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
8. Offering favours/items/bells outside of the game for a ingame information.
9. Sharing accounts with other players.
10. Breadcrumbing the specific phrasing of your role PM. Do not compare the phrasing in your role PM to prove your alignment. You can claim the abilities you have, but you can't use the specific phrasing of your role PM.
11. Posting a false PM phrased as if you received it from the host. You can still fake roleclaim, but you cannot make it look like you are posting a PM you received from the host.
YOU MAY ONLY COPY AND PASTE TEXT FOR USE AS EVIDENCE. POSTING SCREENSHOTS OR ANY OTHER NON-TEXT EVIDENCE IS CONSIDERED CHEATING. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS EVIDENCE THAT IS PUBLICLY AVAILABLE FOR ALL PLAYERS TO CHECK (eg. post counts in a thread). IT IS BEST IF YOU CHECK WITH ME FIRST.
Cheating is not tolerated here as it ruins the game for everyone. The mods and admins here CAN take action.
Mod Font:
This is the mod colour. It is reserved for the host. Please do not use it.
Question Font:
This is the question colour. Use it to ask the host questions about the rules in public. You can also PM me.
Spam:
Strategic spam is acceptable, within reason. Don't be a tool about it. Mafia is also not a ****ing roleplay.
Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything. The board software automatically merges the posts anyway.
Inappropriate posts:
Mafia games can get heated and emotional. Please keep it civil and remember that what happens in Mafia stays in Mafia. Don't let things spill over to the rest of the forum, it's just a game. If you are unhappy with a player's posts, PM me first. Only if you are dissatisfied with the outcome should you involve the TBT staff.
Observers' Chat:
There is no observers' chat.
Play to win.
You should try your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. Clearly not playing towards your win objective will be grounds for a modkill and ban. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM the host if you need to leave the game.
You have been warned.
Voting rules:
1. This game uses Majority Lynch. A player will be lynched if they attain over 50% of the votes.
2. You must vote, even if it's to not lynch.
3. Voting is done in another thread.
4. Please vote in the following format: ##Vote: Username. Votes not done in the correct fashion may not be counted.
5. If you want to change your vote, first type ##Unvote followed by your new vote ##Vote: Username. You can change your vote at any time and as much as you like (within reason) up until a majority is reached.
6. No conditional voting.
7. You may vote for yourself. You may not vote for anyone dead or outside the game.
8. If deadline expires with no majority, there will be no lynch (barring other mechanics).
If you have not read all the rules, go back and do so. I will not compensate for ignorance!
Playerlist (with filters):
This game is open to anyone with a preference for experienced players. As such it is not first come first serve. Those who do not get in will be put on the replacements list.Players remaining: ? / 13
Witches remaining: ? / 3
