• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

A second switch?

I personally don't get the "feature" of having the other profiles join the same island. I will have to make a new profile to have a second house on the island and that one then needs their own Nintendo Online to play online? Bit of weird call on their part. It wouldn't be about technical restriction either; this is just a weird decision they made (at least IF this is the case, Im not 100% sure if it is confirmed that this is the only way to get multiple chars on one island, but it sounds like a thing they would do honestly).

Anyway, the price of a new Switch for a new island is of course way too much. The only way I can imagine ever doing this, is if they released a superior model of the Switch, like a pro version (which has been rumoured). But otherwise, no thanks.

No, just like every other game you can have multiple characters (probably up to four) on one account I'm sure.

I doubt this will be the case:
However, Kyogoku told IGN you can make up to eight playable accounts on one Nintendo Switch and they will be able to live on the same island. You cannot have multiple islands, however.

I personally don't have to share my Switch, but for other people I see this "feature" as pretty stupid. Now that we have profiles, why isn't Nintendo using them and instead still using the same 20-year-old system? I only ever made one town so I certainly won't buy a new Switch. Though I might have started a new save on a new profile if this was possible, to relive the start of the game again.

I already have a switch that I share with my fiance, but I'm thinking about getting another one when Animal Crossing comes out. I probably won't buy another switch if that's the case since I don't get the itch to make a new town until after I'm happy with the first one (Which can take years). I'll probaly just mooch off the old switch at that point.

No. I couldn't see myself buying a second Switch just to play two seperate copies of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Why another Switch console is required to play more than one game that should be compatible with the same system is beyond me. To me, it's like having to buy two pcs to insert two memory cards individually. Am I missing something here?

For me I will fully focus and invest on my new island to get everything to completion (which will take a couple of years knowing me) :)

I mean, even if I were rich, I wouldn't buy another Switch, lol. At this point, I have no big needs for a second town, I rather focus on one island.

I wouldn't buy another switch for another island since it's too expensive. I most likely would end up just buying more copies of acnl and / or keep on working on my current acnl files.

I will probably buy a second switch (a yellow Switch lite) for another island. But I am going to wait until I have played ACNH on my present Switch for a while, first. Then I'll have a better idea about whether this is really worth it to me, or not.

200$+ for a new town is.... very intense... (?・ω・`) even if i had spare change it's a bit of a stretch just for a second town

Wait a minute, you have to buy another switch for making another town? I thought it would store the save data on the game cartridge like new leaf.

Nintendo Switch games store save data on the console. The Nintendo Switch cartridges are read-only memory. You also cannot place game save data on SD cards, due to this being exploited for piracy on the 3DS in the past.

Switches hold up to 8 account profiles and save data is linked to one account? Can't you just use another profile for another town?
