About Sanrio villagers from New leaf

I was wondering if the villagers from the Sanrio Amiibo collection are in new horizons, I've heard different comments about it and was wondering if anyone knew.

Yes and no. Currently, they are not able to be scanned into the game. However in a future update they should be able to be scanned in c:
When you try to use one of the amiibo cards it will recognize the villager, attempt to get them, then say they are unavailable right now just like with certain NPC amiibo that are not in the game yet c:

You can get posters with it, too! They're the same designs that were on the stickers that came with the Amiibo cards, which is a nice touch.
