While we have the thread on what you want in the next game, what mechanic that stayed in Animal Crossing since the GameCube version would you like to change in the next game. We know how (1) Wild World introduced Wi-fi, hairstyles, hats, and new landscaping features, (2) City Folk introduced pro-patterns, ABD, GracieGrace, and new ways of celebrating holidays, (3) New Leaf introduced new character customization features, mayoral features, Dream Suite, and diving, and (4) the Welcome amiibo update introduced MEOW coupons, amiibo functionality, the campground, and new decorating tips. What are some old mechanics and features that stayed the same all along you would like to change?

Here are some I would like to change:

- Wallet size increase to 999,999 Bells
- Group Mechanic that determines probability of items to be obliterated
- Museum to get new exhibits
- Ability to choose town?s biome from start
- Instant character design at start (like in Happy Home Designer)
- Animals to stop forcing you to accept their gifts

There are many more that haven?t changed since the GameCube version, but that?s all I can think of. And this thread isn?t necessarily a new feature thread. It?s a thread discussing the same old features that never changed.

I agree with all of those points except I don't mind being forced to accept gifts :)
What do you mean by the group mechanic?

The group mechanic is a built-in mechanic that determines the frequency of items sold in the Nooklings, the Able Sisters, and Kick’s. Some items are sold very frequently. Some are sold seldomly, but not as bad. Others are rarely sold. They did this to encourage trading, and it’s been implemented since the GameCube version. The problem with this mechanic is that there are way too many items now, and trying to catalog almost everything is next to impossible if you do it yourself. I also hate traveling through time back and forth just to find out that the store doesn’t have what I’m looking for.

I never knew that was a thing! I thought everything was completely random. Is it different between towns or is there a list or something?

Also I would love to see sharp and flat notes in town tunes, and let's see a spellchecker in letters. That way we will actually know if a villager will understand the letter before it comes back.

These are the things that I came up in my mind so far:

- Something like a "tool pocket". A separate part in the your pockets where you can
put all tools in it and it only takes away one spot, basically to have more spaces in
the pockets

- The opportunity to choose your face/eyes right at the beginning, like in Happy
Home Designer. It would be much easier instead of answering random questions
and then gettting a face you don't like and resetting so long till you get the one
you like. It's just a waste of time sometimes

- A time and date indicator at Tortimer Island (if it comes back). Never really
understund why you can't see the time and date when you visit the island in
New Leaf (is there reason for this that I miss? If so please let me know!)

- A "money pocket". Basically like the tool pocket, a A separate part in the
your pockets where you can put money bags in it so that you can carry
around more money and don't have to waste the space in your pockets
for it

For me its.

Able sisters
*Being able to create designs for legs.
*Have a way to transfer old qr codes over.
*Being able to design floor carpet wallpaper.

Fish and bug catching.
* Have their measurements be visible, so you can see if they're slightly bigger or smaller compared to others.

Town.
* Have a grid system when placing town work projects ect.
*Be able to control where villagers can have their house placements.
*Being able to see the limit of how many work projects you can place down, or the placement cap of specific projects.

no more grass disappearing by running on it

What I really want is that we can hold and save more patterns at the same time! It was a pain to use them - I had to switch between four charas and it was still not enough. And when I erased one square by accident I had to switch characters just to place it again on the ground...

Free house placement would also be nice and the ability to hold more bells ^^

I'd like to see the villagers more self sufficient and not rely on the player.

That would give a lot more time to do other things in the game, and real life.

It'd be cool if ALL stores upgraded, for the most part only Nook's does.

Let the Able sisters start out small and eventually get bigger selections etc.

I think the reason is that they wanted the island to feel like some sort of ?escape from reality? situation. In casinos and I think most resorts they don?t have many clocks so you don?t feel rushed, take your time, spend your money etc. I agree though I want a time indicator too.

Nobody listed the fish eye rolling effect on the camera perspective like if your character was walking on a small globe? They introduced that mechanic with Wild World because the Nintendo was a pretty feeble console. It has to go now.

^Aw, it's such a unique stylistic effect.

It's inappropriate for other skin tones to still be regulated to "tanning", and a character customizer feels like the most natural way to include that option. That's the only formula-shattering chamge I can think of as important.

I'd love to see the rolling world effect either improved or removed.
My problem with the effect is twofold. First, it that it makes it difficult to see things ahead of you while running south. Second, isn't as immersive as a controllable third person perspective could be as it limits how far you can see into the distance. (See: The Animal Crossing track in Mario Kart 8, which feels more immersive than any Animal Crossing ever has)

I actually really love the effect itself as it's charming, but these are big issues. It could be improved by drastically reducing the curvature so that you could see farther and pulling the camera away a from the player a little, or by just using a controllable third person perspective. I think I'd prefer the former.

Able Sisters:

-A transparent colour when you create patterns! So that paths wouldn't have to look so square. It always frustrated me so much.

- Being able to design every kind of clothes would be awesome. Trousers, shorts, gowns (like in pocket camp), socks, shoes, different types of hats and maybe even accessories!

- An unlimited palette of colours. So you can get as creative as you want.

- New tools for the patterns creation. Kind of like a "mirror" mode that would duplicate symmetrically what you are drawing.

Character creation:

We have had the same kind of faces for a loooong time now. I would love to have new faces/ facial features. Like... I would love to choose the nose, different types of eyelashes, mouth.
I remember this fan art about Harriet "Villager Plastic Surgery". It was so fun, she offered to reshape your nose/ add sparkles in your eyes/ add blusher, etc. In any case, the result looked actually very cute! I don't see it being called "plastic surgery" though...but well, you get the idea.

Honestly just give me a credit card or something. I like basically everything about the game as is but please why is making huge transactions such a pain! Give everybody a bank account so I can just immediatly pay them in full

A better designed chat system. Longer sentences, a chat log and emojis. Maybe the emojis could be something you could collect or unlock.
