I hope Nintendo make use of the motion controls of the joy con, I'd love to be able to fish by making a casting motion!

I really really hope they haven't neglected the joy con potential because I haven't seen anything joy con specific yet

EDIT: I mean optional motion control,as with a lot of other games.

I don't see it being likely, at least by default. Maybe there will be an alternate setting.

It's a huge selling point on the switch though and ACNH is a huge title. it would be strange to have nothing in there that separates a Nintendo switch from basically a big DS lol

That doesn't help if you're playing handheld. I'm not going to be swinging that around. Better to make it an optional thing for when playing docked.

Agree. If I'm playing docked, I want it to be like City Folk. I loved walking around with the nunchuk and launching my fishing rod with the Wiimote.

This is unlikely as decisions like this are exclusionary toward individuals with disabilities. Wii motion control excluded many people who would've otherwise probably enjoyed games like Animal Crossing on it. Not that many games didn't benefit from motion control, but games like Animal Crossing did not.

Nintendo has found an excellent balance between where motion control belongs and where it does not.

It wouldn't be exclusionary if it were optional though. I suppose I didn't make it explicit in my original post that motion controls would be a nice option, with a handheld equivalent.

For example in Mario and Sonic Olympics you have the option of playing the games with motion control and without.

Specifically, "casting" your joy-con might not be exactly necessary, but it would be a nice touch, and even more so if there were minigames. But I do agree that motion control should be minimal - my point is I don't want it to be ignored as a feature as a game that's exclusively on switch.

Good idea and the potential for motion control is HUGE in New Horizons.

Hopefully they implement basic motion controls like flapping your arms to make your Dodo aeroplane fly to it's destination. There's also scope for an axe and spade joycon peripherals which would be used by the majority if released.

What else would you like to see motion control be used for in addition to my ideas and fishing?

You could scramble out of a pitfall hole
Maybe even hoist your towns flag up
I would LOVE the option to bash Lyle round his wobbly head

Another idea I've just had is for those with 4 joy cons specifically; when pole vaulting across water you could strap 2 joycons to your ankles and jump in time with your islander. Think 'just dance' but more jumping.

Only thing is they'd need to release some ankle joy con holders which is unlikely at this stage. Never say never with dlc around the corner though..

To expand that idea I'd like to see the ability to make your character walk by physically walking around your room with your joy cons strapped to your ankles

that would be so cool! I was thinking also they could incorporate it in mini games (like the island in New Leaf mini games)
