Didn't see anybody talk about this so I post it:

And I went to check the page of play-asia and there it is:

I'm wondering if this is even real? or Nintendo's ready to announce maybe in couple of days with some 20th Anniversary Direct or what, whatever
Most of all I'm just worried about whether this could have something to do with the upcoming update, since the soundtrack theoretically includes all pieces of music the game have got so far, if that's the plan.
What do you guys think?

Yes. It is official. There are unofficial soundtrack gamerips that you can find and listen to on YouTube though.

Also, do not misinterpret the "Complete Edition" written by the article. The Japanese CD lists it as 「あつまれ どうぶつの森」オリジナルサウンドトラック [初回数量限定生産盤] which translates to "Atsumare: Doubutsu no Mori Original Soundtrack [Limited Edition]" / Animal Crossing: New Horizons Original Soundtrack [Limited Edition]. The "complete edition" simply refers to the whole 7-disc set.

This is not indicative that the game will no longer added new music/updates. An example: Smash Bros. Ultimate released an OST but they continue to add new music in the game with DLC, thus making the official OST incomplete. Another example: Final Fantasy XIV has a separate OST for every added DLC. You get the idea.

Also, it's Japan-only.

That's why I'm saying what the game has got so far, and yah I can also think of examples like Splatoon series and Xenoblade 2, which also release extra works afterwards. Just seeing people around me tend to believe this could be the end of new updates or at least the game support is gradually fading out, which makes me feeling rather complicated.
Hopefully it doesn't mean too much, just a soundtrack dropping lol

I saw this about a week back, can’t seem to find anything about it on Japanese websites but it’s apparently real given there’s a VGMDB page for it (it’s being released by Nippon Columbia, who did the Breath Of The Wild and Link’s Awakening remake soundtrack CDs)

However, I’m going to get it anyway.

(also proper releases for the GC, WW/LGTTC and NL soundtracks’d be nice too?)

Nintendo JP just officially announced this!

I like the use of the seasonal artwork for the cover! I was also not expecting the “KK jacket artworks” to be an artbook, so that’s honestly a pretty nice surprise?

I have to say, I love that video they posted showing the performers recording the main theme. I always enjoy seeing that process!

A second volume of this has been announced today by Nintendo.

According to Chubby Bub, the first few discs of it are K.K.’s live tracks (including the “you failed” songs that includes the WW theme), the fourth disc is 2.0-exclusive music including K.K’s new airchecks, and there’s a DVD with seasonal group stretching videos and a music video for Welcome Horizons.

(However, there’s no HHP music, which implies they’re going to do a third release for that in the future)

There’s also a vinyl LP being released in November that includes a selection of K.K. airchecks, including an exclusive version of Hazure02 (the city pop sounding one)

Does it really take 4 discs to include all the non-K.K. music? I suppose it could be possible if each hourly track lasts for 1 hour.

It was 4 discs for the BGM volume, the first of which was all 24 hourly tracks usually coming at 2-3 minutes each, the second was shorter 1-2 minute edits of the rain and snow hourly music, then the third and fourth discs are the prologue music, music for facilities and holidays, and shorter stings like catching something, flying with DAL, or the ones that play on the radio item sometimes.

There’s also 3 discs of KK airchecks included in with the deluxe version of the first soundtrack (or as a separate release, same as the BGM volume), and there’s 3 discs of KK live tracks in this second volume, as well as one disc of 2.0 music which also includes the new airchecks.
