Advice for Your First Day

For those of you who are getting the game tonight and do not plan on time traveling, here's some advice for the first day.

Do everything you can on Day 1 (the day after the tutorial). At the very least pay off your first loan (you don't have to upgrade if you want the tent) and donate 5 fish/insects to Tom Nook to unlock the Museum Tent. Both of those tasks should take no more more than 2 hours. If you can do it before 5 AM rolls around, you'll be in good shape.

The only reason I suggest this is because Day 1 is extremely limited in your play area, and doing both of those will unlock the ability to do a lot more in the game.

My guess is that some things are locked by the game until you're in your 'day 2' or certain things need to wait until 'overnight' to allow you to continue developing/unlocking things/advancing out of the initial stages, they mentioned 6 am which is when the game 'starts' a new day

Yes. After they tell you to go to bed you'll start the official Day 1.

Yes. You can donate to Nook at any time, but only 5 items. After that, you'll have to put everything else you want to donate in your home or outside until the Museum Tent opens the next day.

Thanks for the pointers! I was just going to complete the tutorial and go to sleep but since I have all day tomorrow to play I wanna be able to actually do things then lol.

You will NEED to get Blather's Museum unlocked first because he is the one who gives you the Pole Vault DIY recipe. I know it sucks but just know that you will be able to move the museum later on with a bell fee

Since the Animal Crossing day resets at 5AM in New Horizons, if you do all the pre-requisites for the Museum in between 12AM and 5AM, then you will have the museum after 5AM.

If you start at midnight, 12AM-5AM is Day 1, while 5AM after is Day 2.

That's actually really nice!! I was worried playing at midnight would exhaust all the stuff I was gonna do before the day even began, so it's good to know the day resets at 5am!! Thank you so much for this info!
