Has anybody dreamed of this spooky town?

I remember going there quite recently, and I pushed Agnes the Pig all the way to the plaza, so she could escape!

aika village is talked about way too much. it's not even remotely scary or creepy.

I agree, didn't do anything for me. Too much hype. I do appreciate the effort put into it, though it makes you wonder about the creator's mental state :)

Well, considering it's Animal Crossing and not Silent Hill, Aika Village is as scary & creepy as it can get.

I very much prefer this type of 'quiet' horror, the implication and suggestion behind all those strange/creepy staged exhibits - those imagery that lingers in viewers' imagination.

A lot of creativity and effort there, and I think it justified the hype.

You have a point I suppose. I guess it depends who's looking, nothing really lingered or triggered my imagination :)
I do agree with the effort put into it as I already mentioned though. Must have been time consuming.

I never visited Akia Village, but I did see some of it on videos and such.
But...it doesn't have K.K. Dirge, making it not as scary towards me.

I really, really enjoyed Aika and I probably dream of there every few weeks or so. It's just fab. I love how you're not beaten over the head with the story. That's what makes it so gloriously terrifying. And some of the imagery is just so interesting. I'd love to know the thought process behind each individual room. I bet the creator would be super interesting to talk to, but I'm also kinda glad they never revealed themselves and gave an interview detailing exactly what the story is portraying. All the different theories are just so cool to read up about. It really gives a new dimension to the story.

I absolutely adore 'horror' towns like Aika, but I tend to find they all overdo the gore a bit. Like there's this dream town (I don't want to spoil it, but it involves a Church and a restaurant. Someone must know which dream town I'm talking about) which has just the right amount of gore. I'm always optimistic about finding more fabulous horror towns, but when I go through lists of dream addresses that are supposedly horror themed they all just seem to overdo the blood and gore.

Anyway. Aika may be super popular but it's justifiable, in my opinion of course.

I don't think the town is scary. I think the doll is absolutely terrifying and so is the story. I mean, it's sort of like Carrie where the movie isn't scary, but the events that take place in it are, you know?

I think Aika is overhyped but I don't think it's fair to say it's not scary or well-done at all. Just because it didn't spook you doesn't mean it didn't spook anyone else, and just because you didn't like the story doesn't mean it was a bad story or poorly executed.

I have zero tolerance for any kind of horror or creepy thing, so I went to the town and promptly got the willies and ran away like a chicken, LOL. I did watch videos though. I think it was really interesting how they told such an eerie story through such a peaceful non-spooky game and I really appreciate all the time and effort that was put into it.

(Suicide mention below)
One of my favourite parts, although I can't remember exactly what it was, was this isolated square of beach("island") you could only go to by swimming to it with a wetsuit. I believe there was a grave-pattern tile, flowers, and shoes, which was a nod to a Japanese cultural tale where Japanese people take off their shoes before committing suicide? I thought that was fascinating and it inspired me to hide a secret on my own isolated plot of beach for my dream visitors.

I've been there and I wouldn't say it's extremely scary, but I think it's really well made.

It was creepy, but I saw LinandKo's video before going to the actual town, so I wasn't as scared when I got to the town. I regret watching their video before going because of spoilers and what-not, it's my fault since I'm 100% sure they warned about spoilers and I didn't listen. I guess I was just really curious as to what Aika village was.

I did on my first town. I love how it's laid out; it really makes you wonder :) I actually destroyed the whole thing for fun with the help of my sisters (I believe I have a Blog post about it as proof!), although it took us 3 hours! I'm going to have to go there again on my new town...it'll bring back memories :)

When i first visited, I had just gotten the dream suite and googled " great towns to visit".It didn't scare me, but i couldn't believe that anyone could create a town like that.

I absolutely LOVE Aika Village.

Aika Village is what really got me into ACNL and made me realize the potential in this game. I didn't yet own the game when I watched videos (LinandKo) of the village. I thought Aika was art at it's purest. I thought that if Aika Village is not art, nothing is. A mysterious enchanting interactive graphical poemic piece that can be interpretended in countless ways. The enigmatic story and lore fascinated me, and when I finally got to visit it myself, I found SO many hidden little tidbits!

It sparked my desire to create my own piece of art, that is my town. In my town I try to make my own perfect town, my personal view of a Paradise. I view my town as a piece of art that I slowly create over time.

Aika Village will be my favourite AC village forever. I just can't see anything beating the depth and the feeling of mystery the town and story behind it have. And even if I find another as unbelievably amazing town such as Aika, Aika will still be my first such experience so it will be hard to beat on that front. If you haven't visted Aika, I can only recommend it.
