Amiibo Glitch

Hello, what is this amiibo glitch that everyone is talking about when you try to move someone out of your town? I don't really understand it, what happens to your/ their game?
I'm not up to that part of the game since I haven't time skipped yet but I wanted to time skip to move some ugly villagers out using amiibos.
So I just have some questions hopefully someone can help answering ~ (´｡• ᵕ •｡`)
Does the glitch only happen when you are trying to sell/ trade a villager?
Does the glitch still happen when you just want to kick someone out, without trading?
and what does the glitch do?

I think it can glitch your friend's town but people have started reporting having a glitch in their own town after kicking out villagers with amiibos.
So I don't know... I'd be careful for now and not do it.
