Hello, good girls and boys! I have some links to share that will make your Google searches far less dangerous!

For Firefox users:

1. Install this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/
2. Install this: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/1682-google-hit-hider-by-domain-search-filter-block-sites

For Chrome users:

1. Install this: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo?hl=en
2. Install this: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/1682-google-hit-hider-by-domain-search-filter-block-sites

And here's a page with a short video and written instructions: http://www.jeffersonscher.com/gm/google-hit-hider/

I suggest you Google the name of the specific site you want to block and when it comes up simply block it using the method above. Do this for all the sites you want to block and you'll never see them in your search results again. You're welcome! :)

The only bad thing is that unfortunately this does not work for Google Image search. This is more helpful for saving you from horrifying "fanfiction" and whatever other web search results you don't want to see. But if you're good at scripting or making add-ons you should help us by making a script or add-on that allows users to block websites from their image search results! Oh, and if you know of sites where people like us can search for character images please post it here? Healthy fans like pictures too!

Oh, and if you aren't a pervert then PM me! I might need someone for a co-op game next month!

Thank you for this! I appreciate the resources, especially having a younger daughter. Not that she's even old enough to be on a computer, but it's good to be conscience of the tools out there for when she is. :)

I'm happy to help! :) Here's a list of other add-ons I use. People like us will love these too!

Adblock Edge

Adblock Plus

Gif Block

ImageBlock (block or all images on a page with just one click!)

YouTube High Definition

One of the worst things about horrifying fan art and fan fiction is that you don't have to look for it to find it. It will be shown to you by merely typing in a character's name, by searching "how to draw (character's name)" or by searching "(character's name) is cute". And heaven help you if you search for an anime guy. Oh, the unrelenting horror that was visited upon my innocent eyes every single time! >_<

But here's to safe and happy surfing! :)

Thanks for posting this. It's really terrible when something that's essentially intended for children gets warped so that things like this become necessary, but it's great that we at least have the resources to try and mitigate that problem.

I'm happy to help. I think it's sad that perverts will even take something as innocent and non-sexual as a children's game or Saturday morning cartoon and post totally fake, non-canon porn stuff of it online for anyone to find. At least now we can do something to keep it away from ourselves and our families.

I love drawing goryish (more so just creepy) fanart of cute things but I rarely post them online. If I wouldn't want my little sister to find the drawing, chances are I will not upload it (unless it's in a fandom where it's supposed to be a creepy) I have never understood why people would draw porn. My sister has seen it and she's six and it's not fun to try and explain what [insert character] is doing to [insert other character] Thank you for this post <3

Always happy to help! Saint_Jimmy, it's incredibly nice of you to think about others before you post certain things online. :) Thank you! I feel awful knowing that your little sister has seen the worst kind of "fan art" and I hope she's able to forget it. This isn't fair... healthy people and children should be able to search for their favorite characters without seeing a bunch of weird, fake stuff! So I'm going to test different image search engines and if I find a safe one I'll let all of you know. Take care!

Bump! Great post, thanks for putting this out there! It's becoming harder and harder to shield kids from the horrors of what is so readily available and accessible to them. It's incredibly frightening, to be honest, and I don't even have kids.

Thank you, and that's so true! During one of the years I was innocent and carefree I was shown perverted stuff every time I Googled characters I liked and every time I tried to find new games and shows. Google was extremely aggressive with that and my fear became so intense that I had to abandon everything I'd previously loved because I literally could not stand the sight of the characters anymore. I was nervous and stressed out for years because of the psychological trauma. I'm a young adult now and I don't have kids but I still hate perverted stuff and I do everything I can to avoid it.

I have great news though! After testing different image search engines at great personal risk... I finally found a safe one! :) I braved three pages of search results at this site and there was no soul-killing fan art at all! The image search results were official images, screenshots, DVD covers, game box covers, images from Wikipedia and the occasional solo cosplayer. It's nearly search engine Heaven! Also, this site doesn't show you likely-negative images of what other people have searched for when you search for something and when you click on an image this site doesn't show you likely-negative "similar images". Yay!

I don't want to post the link so people don't start trolling there to make the search engine pull results from the kinds of sites we want to avoid. So I'll PM all of you the link right away! :) If anyone else like us wants the link, just PM me!

I don't think I've ever come across NSFW Animal Crossing art when doing a normal search. It exists, I'm sure of it, and I never went looking...but I didn't know it was a huge issue that people were running into, seeing as I never came across any.
