Sales for the game now total 10 million in Japan alone. The previous record-holder, Super Mario Bros., managed to shift 6.81 million on the Famicom (known as the NES in the west).

Including Japan, New Horizons has sold 37.62 million copies worldwide, and is currently second to Mario Kart for the most popular/most sold Switch game.

I wanna throw some shade about not being able to find some amiibo cards😏 but really, I'm just glad for the dev team. I'm sure they're pleased as punch to hear this, and while I've had my issues with the the game, the 2.0 version of it is icing on the cake.

really? is this just for nintendo or any game EVER? that's insane, i always thought it'd be something like monster hunter or dragon quest. i cant believe how popular new horizons is compared to new leaf, i feel like i know a ton more people who play NH than NL. that's nuts!

I thought it was between Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, but apparently yeah, its across all games ever. But I don't think it includes different versions of the same game, like Pokemon.

Neat stuff. This is one reason why I don't think they will wait as long for the next AC game and they will reuse its graphics.
I'm glad so many people like AC 😃

I’m pretty sure the lockdown helped with this. This was the absolute perfect opportunity to bring in new fans of the game. I’m so glad that this game was treated as something to do and brought in some new fans. Not to discount Animal Crossing, but we did get a bunch of new fans due to everyone having time on their hands.
