What i am pretty sure will happen. Is that Animal Crossing will be a launch title for the NX. Why would Nintendo Release one of there best selling games on a dead system that they are trying to push under the carpet. When they could release it on much newer hardware.

Also if they released it as a launch title it would sale the NX alone i would buy one %100 just for that game. The reason we have seen games like amiboo festival and happy home designer and Mario tennis is because they are all filler games. They want to hold back the big franchises for the NX. Also they released games like amiboo festival so they could say the Wii u had a animal crossing game kind of. When you step back and think about it then it all starts to make perfect sense. It would be stupid of Nintendo to release a new AC game for a dying console with the NX most likely out next year!.

My second thought. Imagine Animal crossing on the NX a console more powerful than the Xbox one and ps4? I could not even begin to think what animal crossing would be like on that powerful hardware. Maybe 4K maybe they bring back Giant towns even bigger than the game cube where you have 30 villagers. They could easily pull that off on the NX Being even more powerful than a ps4. I hope they do not release the next Animal crossing on the Wii u, and on the NX instead as it would be a much bigger, better and pretty game!!

Please comment as i would love to know your thoughts on this!

I'm agreeing with all those who say it's going to be on NX next. I really don't see them putting another on Wii U after AF, which I personally think was thrown together rather quickly given the little depth to it. I get that people say well the core was off making Splatoon, and that may be the case, but either way, I don't think the next in the series will be on Wii U, that thing is probably going to be totally dead by 2017, easily a good time for the next AC game, if not 2016 when many think NX is launching. No matter what, I think my only doubutsu no mori Wii U game is unfortunately going to be Amiibo Festival, so I hope the Japanese one pulls me in more than the North American one did! It's ordered and coming, so we'll see!

I wonder if they might do something like they did with Twilight Princess and release it for both the wiiU and the NX...

Highly unlikely because it would have to be a higher selling franchise to get the same game twice. Compare it to Zelda, especially in America, Animal Crossing is very, VERY niche. Look at New Leaf for example. It's approaching 5 million copies in Japan, and hasn't even reached 10 million in the world- Japan is accounting for over half its sales! It's a bigger fan of AC than America, but Zelda outsells its Japanese counterpart in the US.

Sound reasoning. One can dream though. I wonder though... What would it mean for AC if the NX was a virtual reality colsole like the occulus?

To be honest, I'm not sure what Ninendo are going to do with the next AC. They could put it on the Wii U, because right now it's the only home console that came out after the Gamecube that doesn't have a main series AC game. But they could be releasing it on the NX instead, because they think the Wii U won't last much longer.

And I hope they release it for the Wii U so I don't feel like I wasted my mum's money by asking for a Wii U last Christmas (because there are only four other Wii U games I want/have). But at the same time, I know that an NX version would be bigger and better because of it being more powerful than the Xbox One and PS4. So I also hope that there's an NX version.

Really I'm hoping for it to be released on both the Wii U and NX, even though there's a pretty high chance that it'll only be released on one or the other.
