Because...
They're part of Nintendo's history. (Nintendo originally made hanafuda cards when it was founded, back in 1889.)
They're hard (made out of wood or plastic or something...), making them last longer.
And hanafuda is a better game than anything you can play with traditional playing cards.
But I do like the Animal Crossing cards. It's just no worth it, though.
