Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.
Well, considering BotW was possible, I'd like just a slightly bigger town size than let's say New Leaf. Hopefully that means we'll have more neighbors in our towns as well.
Slightly bigger than nl would be ok with me, especially if they up the villager count. But I don't want it so big that I get lost and areas get neglected. Also for me if it was too big I'd have a hard time planning.
I'm conditioned to NL's size, having played it the most, and far more than the other games, but I wouldn't mind a huge map. This could put thye potential of having more than ten villagers in our towns (I'm hoping for 15), and we would have more space for PWP's.
I'd love to have a large town...but not too large. Moving around a super large town without warp points is going to be annoying, and I don't think Nintendo would put warp points in AC. I'd love to have a town the size of the gamecube version, or maybe a little bigger, but not much more than that.

BotW and Animal Crossing cannot be compared like that. They're completely different games and having a bigger world in a game like Breath of the Wild is much easier to create than in a game like Animal Crossing. Consider that Animal Crossing has to save the status of every single square in the world grid. Think of whether there is a flower planted on it, which flower it would be, if it is watered, if it can breed with another flower, what's the status of the grass beneath etc etc. In BotW there's nothing like that.
That said, I'm pretty sure the world size is more of a gameplay decision than a hardware limitation. Can't imagine a huge world would work well with AC.
Ideally, I'd like it to be the size of the GameCube game, I thought that was ideal.
I'd also like to keep the island, RV site and maybe add a forest area to visit. That way you have extra areas to play in, but without having to maintain them.
i hope for bigger maps than in new leaf. i really liked the split level maps of city folk but they were a bit big for the game (at least for me lol but i didnt do much w flowers and whatever) since you couldnt decorate a lot. i really hope the maps are bigger but most importantly more interesting than in new leaf, the maps are extremely boring and not very unique aside from the river and beach. the beach is too cut off from the rest of the town and it's just weird ):
I want a bigger map, but not if it'll be mostly empty. I think if we look to Pocket Camp we may see a trend toward more themed areas, and tbh I'd take a smaller village proper if it meant that there were other areas to explore
