I don't know. To be honest, unlike Zelda games where each chapter tells a different story and is driven by different game concepts, Animal Crossing games are really just one game being reworked and updated each time so once you have the latest game, there really is no incentive or reason why you would play the previous one. The experience will be pretty much the same, but just... not as good, with less items, worst graphics and less profound gameplay. If they come out with an Animal Crossing game, I think they would come out with Animal Crossing: City Folk since there are no home console Animal Crossing to be played right now (while the 3DS has New Leaf and with New Leaf, there is no reason to dumb down your experience and go back to Wild World, like there is no reason for an iPhone 6 user to go back to an iPhone 3G).
