Animals and the fruits from their "home town"? Also, "locking" an animal?

Is there any real relationship between a particular animal and a particular fruit?

Reason I ask this: I'd just discovered Apollo at my campsite. Talking to him, he mentioned apples (my town's native fruit) and how he felt so much at home because there are apples here, they remind him of his town. I played a game of cards with him and then, when I talked to him again, he mentioned apples for the second time and wondered if he should move in. (Of course I told him to do just that! Please move in, Apollo, you can have any spot you want!) So, all that talk of apples made me wonder if each animal has a certain affinity for a certain fruit?

And I have another question. In AC:WW, you could prevent villagers from moving out by running an errand and then refraining from reporting back to the animal that had wanted the errand done. This means that you could "lock" the two villagers involved in the errand, for as long as you don't report back. Is this still do-able in New Leaf? Has anyone tried it?

Nope, all campers will always talk about how they like your town's native fruit.

I didn't know about that lock trick but it's kinda pointless though because then you won't have anything to do with that animal.

Also nope, the next day they'll forget about the errand.

They'll forget all about the errand the next day. I tend to promise them things and just forget. I'm such a terrible mayor xD

Thank you for the answer! :)

Would have been cool if there was a relationship of sorts between animals and fruits. Because I didn't have to talk to Apollo many times (only twice) to get him to consider moving in, I wondered if there was something else in the equation.

Thank you for the answer, Freya and PJCR!
