So, I have a New 3ds XL now. I decided to use some of my money I had set aside to get one since I found some in good condition and I'd imagine it may be harder to get later if I continued waiting. I've been wanting to explore the catalog and play on a native system at the same time. I never had this system.. the closest I had was a 3ds xl. I also only had a few games.. and it was fine for those however a couple of games had some frame rate issues at certain points when there was a lot going on. It was probably the later 3ds games that had that, and I have heard of others online experiencing the same back then.
I'm pretty excited about getting this, because unlike the system I use to have, it can scan Amiibos.
So, I am about to start a town in ACNL welcome amiibo! : D
I have been brainstorming names for a about a week and these are the ones I am really thinking about. I'd like others' opinion on them or others to share their ideas for town names!
-Farebell
-Windbell
-Smorburn
-Nooklyn
-Clayrill
-Woodfall
-Luckton
-NewBerry
The meaning of these names along with the other names I brainstormed that I don't think I am going to use are in the spoiler below in case it helps someone else with ideas. Remember with New Leaf, the character limit for a town name is 8.

+NewBerry (new berries)
+New Bark ( starting town in Johto pokemon, new bark growth)
+Sandwood (to smooth wood with sand paper, a wooded area near a sandy area, could be referencing sandalwood which is an aromatic wood from a particular evergreen tree)

I am also aiming for pears. I usually go for apples, but I think going for pears will be a nice change and the perfect pears look like golden pears to me. Let me know about other factors to keep in mind while map resetting. I'm not in a super big hurry to start my town.

Is anyone else starting a town in an older animal crossing game? Or recently started one? And is there still a good place to look online for QR codes for paving for New Leaf?

personally, i like oakton, wildnut, and nooklyn the most. i feel like the last two that i mentioned are especially unique. however, it really depends on what theme you want to go with, if any.

Damn, that's a lot of really good name ideas. I feel bad cutting the list down!

Woodfall and Clayrill are very quaint names. I'd definitely recommend these if you're planning on having a more natural and relatively undeveloped town.

For an urban or developed town, Nooklyn and Luckton are up there. They sound a bit more busy than the others, if that makes sense?

My two favourite out of the both of the categories are Woodfall and Nooklyn but I think that they're very specific to their categories. Smorburn or Farebell would be more flexible impo

This is for the names that didn't make it for your final cut of names, but I still really like.

Portwood or Seabell if you want a sea themed town (lighthouse, sand QR codes, etc). Fairton would also be good for this one, imo

I must say, I love Mossburg, Sagewood, and Cricksong. I like these names a lot!

About the map, my advice is to get one where the front of the waterfall can be seen head on. I just think it looks far better than the ones that flow to the side. My town map doesn't have a waterfall like this, and I regret not getting one that did.
