I upgraded my house with a second upgrade for more storage but now it feels super empty. I've tried decorating it more but I can never find any recipes, and it seems like the only balloons that appear are Zipper's. I've unlocked customization so now I feel really hyped up seeing everyone's awesome terraforming, but it's hard to do anything when you want a pastel pink house and all you have is random egg furniture.

The regular balloons do appear at 10 minute intervals, like usual. I got three cherry blossom recipes today, so it is possible, don't lose hope! Also be on the lookout for messages in bottles on both your island and Nook Miles islands. And you can go into your villagers' houses to see if any of them are at their workbenches. They'll give you a recipe if they are.

I'm sure you know about most of these, but:

  • Check your beach every day, there will be a normal message in a bottle & a bunny day one, each with recipes.
  • Pop solid color balloons. I've seen people claim the red balloons have a higher chance to drop recipes, but I think they can drop from any.
  • If a villager is home, go inside - they might be crafting and offer you a recipe.
  • This won't give a recipe, but shaking the trees on your island will drop at least one piece of furniture (I don't know how many there can be per day).
  • Visit Mystery Islands: sometimes there will be a bottle on the beach. If you get an island that has normal, non-fruit trees, at least one of them will also drop a piece of furniture.
  • If you have the campsite and Amiibo cards, invite villagers to visit. If you talk to them they will ask you to craft them something, and if you don't know the recipe, they'll give it to you.

That's the best I've got, but I wish I had better advice! I'm dying for more recipes too.

Thank you so much! I completely forgot about shaking the trees for furniture.
