I have 2 characters on my island. I got the second one for extra storage, honestly. But she's fully upgraded, house paid off, etc. I bought HHP and did not expect her to be able to play. I thought only my main resident would. Second player is on my Nintendo Online family plan, but I don't have the expanded family plan. Anyway, I was surprised when she got the invitation from Lottie to work. If I pursue this, what will she do? Does she have to go through the tutorial? Does she have to do Eloise's house? Will she have the same archipelago as me?

I don't plan on her character working at HHP. I barely have time to do it with my main resident. I am curious, though, and wonder if there is any advantage.

I have a 2nd character and you have to do everything from scratch again in HHP. All the progress between characters are separate and does not carry over the other.

I just played until the point when I can get bottles on the beach because I want those extra DIYs.

Thanks for this. I was curious too about the other characters. Time to get them to the message in bottle stage of HHP.

I'm pretty much following in this guy's footsteps, I mostly just have a bunch of hotels in other things that need partition walls and would greatly benefit from them. I'm technically just speedrunning happy home Paradise in order to get all the cool stuff. Basically more or less my other two profiles would probably get fired from HHP

Same here. I share an island and each character appears to have completely unique archipelagos without shared progress.

I'm sort of curious how this might impact future villager searches. Does anyone know if you have a villager on any archipelago, does that mean they won't show up in regular villager hunts anymore?

After your 5th house, Niko will find a bottle and give you a DIY. After that, bottles will start spawning at the beach once every day.

I didn’t know about the diys. I thought about doing it for the partitions, but diys Is another reason.

Do they have the same or different items available to purchase with the poki?

😂 I could do that. A quick run through would be the best way to do it for the secondary characters.

Different items are for sale for each resident. I still play my 2nd character just to buy all the new stuff, then drop it off back home for my main character's catalog.

Oh thats interesting. I might take advantage of this, since I have a main island with 6 other users.

HHP has no affect on the main game villager roster.

I don't bother fully furnishing the houses. I just put the required furniture, add a few stuff and call it interior design. LOL. I'm just here for the Poki and reach the 30th house eventually.

Does something happen when you get 30 villagers?

Kilza did a good summary of the progress in HHP. Major spoilers.

  • During the 2nd house, you're able to renovate the outdoor areas of houses
  • After the 2nd house, you unlock the Happy Home Paradise app
  • During the 4th house, you learn how to polish
  • After the 5th house, you get a DIY from Niko (may be locked into vine/moss specifically - I got the Vine Lamp DIY for reference)
  • After the 6th house, you get more work clothes + more Poki per house and can design the school
  • Designing the school unlocks changing room sizes + windows and entryways - Room size cannot be changed in your home, your villagers houses or at Photopia
  • After the 7th house, you can use amiibos in HHP
  • During the 8th house, you learn how to use partitions
  • After the 8th house, you get the DIY for a partition wall
  • After the 10th house, you have a celebration party
  • After the 11th house, you get more work clothes + more Poki per house
  • During the 12th house, you get different polishing effects
  • After the 12th house, you can build 2 more facilities (restaurant, cafe)
  • During the next facility you pick, you learn about changing lighting
  • After the 13th house, the Happy Home Academy allows you to share homes/facilities online
  • After the 15th house, you're able to use DIY items you've crafted before
  • After the 16th house, once you continue working, you'll gain the ability to have roommates in vacation homes when remodeling a villager's vacation home
  • After the 17th house, you learn soundscapes after a cutscene with Wardell
  • After the 18th house, you can do two-storey vacation homes
  • After the 19th house, you can suggest ideas to villagers, and also get more Poki + work clothes
  • After the 20th house, you have another party and get the end goal for HHP
  • After the 22nd house, you get a present from Lottie
  • After the 24th house, you unlock another facility (hospital)
  • After the 25th house, you lean more soundscapes after another cutscene with Wardell
  • After the 27th house, Tom Nook visits and allows you to use your entire catalog for decorating vacation homes
  • After the 30th house, you unlock the last facility (apparel shop)
  • After the apparel shop is complete, you get the credits
  • After the credits, you unlock more reactions (Grooving Hop, Groove Right, Groove Left, Soak It In, Side-to-Side, Island Stomp, Airplane, Twisty Dance, Shimmy, Turnip Patch, Arm-Swing Dance)
  • After returning to your island after the credits and entering the Residential Services building, you unlock the option to remodel your villagers' homes (exterior and interior). It costs 9,000 bells per home, you have everything available to you that you would on the archipelago and you can do multiple homes per day.
  • After the 33rd house, you unlock even more soundscapes after another cutscene with Wardell (may also require the hospital expansion?)

Various notes:
  • No limit on # of houses that can be done in a day
  • There's 5 items in the HHP shop, with the stock changing every day.
  • After the initial moss/vines, there's 2 new moss and 2 new vines per day.
  • There's a DIY bottle on the beach every day
  • The teacher at the school can give you an item once per day
  • The chef at the restaurant teaches cooking DIYs once per day
  • The co-chefs at the cafe allow you to order food/drinks with Poki (8 total items, I believe it changes every day)
  • The receptionist + doctor are able to give you clothing items at the hospital (once per day)
  • Can expand the hospital by donating 120,000 Poki
  • You're able to buy the items on the mannequins in your apparel shop, items change every day
  • Can dance with villagers from various facilities after the initial credits
  • The next day after opening the school, Leif will come visit, which will unlock the use of hybrid flowers and crops in the archipelago.
  • Wardell will allow you to buy things even if you don't have enough Poki (around the 15 house mark)
  • You get rewards for # of houses completed in the mail
  • After teaching Niko about DIYs (after completing 15 houses), 2 days later he will teach you about pillars/counters immediately when you go to the archipelago
  • The day after learning about pillars/counters, if you get materials for Niko, you'll get different pillar/counter styles (unconfirmed)
  • You're able to get a catalog for HHP and buy items with Poki at some undetermined point - seems to be based on how many Poki you've spent. This catalog allows you to buy furniture you've used on the archipelago.

I have a second character for storage too haha! And for another house to decorate for my gyroid shop lol. But I've been tempted to go play through HHP with him. I think that when I finish the "storyline" with my first character and unlock everything, I'll go play through it again with my second character. I haven't really touched it so far with him just because I feel like it's busy enough working through it with my main character lol!

Hi, not very related to HHP but is your second player able to redeem Be A Chef! diy recipes from the nook stop? I have a second player too but i cant find the be a chef on nookstop :-(

Are you talking about the nook miles option? Yes. I have a 3rd player who is in a tent and he was able to get it as well. There must be something else going on, but I don't know what it is. I'd search for some kind of help guide. I know that's frustrating!

I wasn't going to until I found out they get different items in their shop. I went ahead and started, but I'm putting in minimal effort so I can get it done as quickly as possible. I probably won't play every day with the second character. It definitely increases the workload, so I may need to really wait for Christmas break. (I'm in grad school. This new update is really distracting me!)
