Anyone else completely overwhelmed?

And by ^ that, I mean this:

I enacted the Keep Oracle Beautiful ordinance. Worst mistake of my life. There are flowers absolutely EVERYWHERE to the point that I literally have nowhere to put them. I'm officially out of space. To add to this, I chopped down a bunch of trees for whatever reason, just because I thought it'd make it easier to lay my paths and flowers and then plant trees accordingly and o-m-f-g I am at the point where I need to landscape and I'm completely in over my head. I get all inspired and then I end up fishing all day or talking to Julian and Diana over and over and just killing time. On top of all that, I changed over to a path mule so half my town is pathed with the old stuff, and I need to lay down the new ones. I am SO EXCITED to do it but I have no idea where to start, except to change my ordinance like...now.

Hopefully this thread will attract either:
a) people in the same boat as me, so we can be overwhelmed together
or
b) people who have been there who can tell me where to start :3

Anyone?

This happened to me. Flowers will overwhelm you no matter what ordinance you choose. I just dug up EVERY normal flower in town. Then I stuck to hybrids and Leif's Flower Bag flowers only and dug up any of the flowers that my villagers plant. It's easy to manage and looks better.

You could also sell your flowers instead, but digging them up is easier.

Well I just put something on tumblr that I'll be giving away any non-hybrid normal flowers that people want - they request it and I'll look and see how many I can spare, on a first come first serve basis. If no one wants them I'll either come here (I've been on tumblr for a while, only on TBT for a couple minutes so yeah..) or just dig them up.

Yeah, I totally sympathise, I had a beautiful town for about 3-4 weeks. In that time my tiny patch of 5 lillies exploded all over the place to the point I started picking them up and putting them in the garbage can PWP while I let some other flower patches grow.

I was aiming for wall to wall flowers though, so it was kinda helpful. Now I'm close to being done there I've decided to go for bush lined natural paths and now I am stuck. ~ Mostly because I destroyed grass walking everywhere to water all my flowers since I switched ordinance and now there isn't any clear places to put bushes for paths, and if I do plan it out by the time I get the bushes all the flowers will have outgrown my plans and I'll probably require pathways leading elsewhere. :S

I have the rich town ordinance and I decided to make hybrids along the way. Is it me, or are the hybrid spawning too good in this game? I know the villagers plant flowers as well, but my town is getting infested in these things x_x

I don't think it does. But because I have so many flowers I have to walk all over my town to water them. - and that is killing my grass. If I had beautiful ordinace I wouldn't have to trample the grass to water them.

I'm also in the process of landscaping. I finished cutting down my trees today and my second character should be able to use the QR machine any day now (I've not been TT'ing). ^^ There are flowers everywhere and more are planted by my villagers every day. I find it amusing because I don't care about flowers at all - and I've managed to get a lot of hybrids without even trying: leave it long enough and the game will breed them automatically.

The majority of my flowers are lining my paths. I have a few areas where I've flower-bombed dirt patches I want to grow in, but I'm in the process of taking up the lines of flowers and replacing them with bushes. That's a slow process, but once it's done, the time to water all my flowers should be cut down from about 35 minutes now to 5 minutes or so.

I have the Night Owl ordinance, so my villagers haven't gone too nuts planting flowers on me. I've been replanting the ones they plop down in paths, but I figure I'll let the others go for now.

Haha, Colleen very funny. Removing the Ordinance is the right step to start w/. Now the tedious stuff- sell all the flowers you don't need or move them to an open area should you want to create a garden. In terms of trees, I've crossed a section for fruit orchards & another for normal trees; therefore in addition to looking abit organized, I'll know which trees to shake for the 2x daily furniture drops. Next, are you set on multiple path designs? This will take up the most of your time, well path design & securing your Dreamies. Good luck, Colleen!

my flowers were getting out of hand as well.
I spent the other day just sorting them all out and putting them into groups.
I really want that trashcan pwp so I can just easily throw some away lol.

yeah, you might not get roaches with the beautiful town ordinance but the flowers are like vermin now....BUT having too many flowers beats the heck out of watering. Watering is so tiresome, by the time I closed up my CF town I never wanted to water again - seriously, if the beautiful ordinance hadn't existed I might not have bought New Leaf!!

the suggestion of just digging all the extras up is best, although I have been ignoring them for the most part.

My advice would be to pick a section of your town and just focus on that until you're happy. Then move on to another section. If you try and work on your whole town at once you'll go nuts!

Flowers don't overwhelm me in bellboom. I just don't water them and the problem solves itself in a week.

i was so overwhelmed by flowers at one point
my town looked... disgusting is what id describe it
all those different colors thrown up everywhere by villagers.
it became too much so i ran over/sold all of them

Derp, just noticed this. Very little flower growth on Bellboom too- like 4x or less flowers crop up in that Ordinance.
