Anyone else super upset about the furniture situation? (Love the game, hate to complain!)

I think it's lacking for sure. There's not a lot of variety and it really prevents branching out since there's so few items for the kitchen, bathroom etc. I hope more will come out with future updates since New Leaf had so many sets available. I really miss the rococo and alpine sets the most. I am glad we at least have color variations now since it makes it more interesting (the white rattan set is my favorite!)

I completely agree! We have so many clothing options but NH is lacking when it comes to furniture. I feel like the furniture we have now has totally set the scene for a great woodsy natural island, bamboo zen island, and resort like islands, but not much else. I like to watch island tours on YouTube and most of them have a woodsy theme, and I think the furniture that we have has influenced this.

I was thinking about the furniture situation recently and I have a theory.

There's a big focus on making this truly feel like a deserted island experience. So it makes sense that most of our starting furniture has that hand crafted look. We have been working towards getting our islands "on the map". Getting new residents, shops, K.K., etc. I think the developers are wanting us to feel truly immersed in the whole experience.

I think we can all agree that it's very likely that Nook's Cranny will eventually be getting further upgrades. I believe that these upgrades will start to bring back some of the furniture sets we're missing and probably some new ones too.

I can understand them wanting to slowly add new features and items, but I do think it's a bit too slow. This may be partially due to covid 19 and also due to them underestimating how rabid for AC we are.

Yeah, I'm really disappointed with the lack of furniture, too. I honestly don't think they'll bring back a bunch of the older series, especially since many would be too similar to what we have now. Like I doubt the blue series will ever be added back in because it's similar to the wooden furniture, but the blue series had its diamond motif and unique qualities that the wooden stuff doesn't have, which is sad. Cabana is almost certainly gone forever in NH, but we'll still miss out on the lamp, bookcase, etc. which have no rattan equivalents.

I think Gracie sets would come back if they ever add her in, and they might bring back some of the more unique ones that we don't have anything similar to (astro, robo, regal, rococo, stripe, etc), but I doubt they'll bring back everything. I'm still holding out a bit of hope for all the old sets to be unlocked in future Nook's Cranny upgrades or even given to Gracie, though.

I'm interested to see how they'll reintroduce the old furniture, assuming they do. Do we just get the option to buy them randomly from an upgraded Nook's Cranny? Will there be a new location/ special character? It's just so hard to say how things will go down because this is the first time we've seen this content model in an AC game.

Yeah, in new leaf I completely did my whole town gothic-ey, but here in new horizons there really isn’t that much of a variety of items. it’s really limiting me on the sort of look I wanted.

(They even took out the dead perfect fruit trees...which aren’t really a furniture ....but still...I needed them)

I’m just hoping they bring more things on Halloween. #Pleasebringbackthegyroids

I miss so many of the sets that were not included in NH. Hopefully they bring new and some of the ones they left out back in future updates... I'd love more variation tbh and I am a bit disappointed.

Really wish they would add more outdoor furniture...👴
I feel like in New Leaf, they had so much outdoor furniture, but you couldn't even place anything outside? (why did they get rid of the Beach Table in ACNH aaahHHH)

I notice also that a lot of people say they don't know what to do with their beaches in general, so outdoor furniture could help with that if they added more!

yeahhhhhh, for sure it feels like there are more one-off items available, and the variety of colors is nice! but!! it doesn't make up for the fact that there's just very little variety in basic furniture items like beds or tables or dressers.hard to be creative with that very basic limitation.

i personally love hyper modern furniture pieces and while we have some nice appliances and again, single pieces, it's very hard to find things that go together and fit that futuristic bright poppy technology feel that i have used for every AC game until now. i do feel let down - in the sense that pocket camp gets continuous really creative and cool furniture and new leaf amiibo update added a lot of pieces that were really beautifully designed and seem like they could have translated very easily to NH.

in fact, this lack of furniture means i am waiting to design a lot of my island because of this - so it kinda feels like constantly being in DLC limbo. i haven't enjoyed my island development as much as i want to.

BUT, the comfort is - AC has been rather famously good at listening to critique? we have recieved a lot of updates in the mere two months of release and a lot more are sure to come. the existence of NH as a terraforming, clothing and DIY centric fun space that it is, is a credit to developers listening to what people most wanted in NL - more control over their game. and tbh, i would rather have the decent base game play in place, because furniture can always be a DLC.

but for nook's sake, being patient is hard 😂

(this is so long omg. tl:dr where the future tech at? oh, in the future)

The upside though about the furniture is they DID add some really great new things. I do like the ironwood set and the diner set, as well as all of the bamboo and cherry blossom stuff. But yes, we do need a bunch of old furniture back, and some new ones too.

In addition to the thought of us possibly getting new furniture via Nook's Cranny upgrades - we don't have any Gracie sets. I miss the Gorgeous and Princess sets, for example. I imagine we will get Gracie back eventually. I hope she brings back some of these beloved sets.

i was just talking about this with my friend yesterday. it definitely feels like there's not a lot of items - or clothes - as previous games, and i'm really hoping they'll roll out updates that'll both bring back old sets and introduce new ones.

I feel the exact same way! Even Pocket Camp feels so much more fleshed out furniture wise :/
Hopefully we’ll get some furniture updates soon

I'm upset that all the villager houses kinda look the same. I determined some of my dreamies based on their house too. One of birds I love their design but their house is literally full of trash and I hate how a lot of jocks just have a gym for their home.

Yes, the game is lacking good options. I would expect they would add many of the missing sets back, along with news ones. I'm just not sure when and really would like it to be sooner rather than later.

In between Happy Home Designer and Pocket Camp the lack of furniture is a step back. We went so far forward. I know they will "add more". Doesn't mean I don't feel the lack now. Its really killing my ability to design town areas and care about interior design. I have two empty rooms because I can't even be bothered.
The rooms with furniture- 2 are just replicas of rooms from Breath Of The Wild because my brain went, what does this furniture remind me of.
So we went from high end furniture previous games to post apocalyptic Hyrule for me this game.
I never copy other videogames its just most of the furniture isn't stuff I even like or think is cute.

I've said this a bunch and I'll say it again, I sincerely hope they bring amiibo exclusive furniture back. Sanrio, 7/11, Zelda... it was incredibly immersive and unique... the posters are cute, sure, but I need the furniture back! My ideas to make a Cinnamonroll cafe, or an immersive gas station for Nook's Cranny with 7/11 furniture... I really miss that option.

I just want the Sloppy series and the froggy chair back...

But seriously, some of the new furniture in NH are not bad and looking good, on the other hand it would be nice to get some of the furniture series and certain items back from the previous games. Also, I would welcome it a lot if some of those cool looking Pocket Camp items would be available in NH at some point.

I'm very mixed opinion on this. Yeah, the furniture selection needs to be greatly expanded, there's a ton I want to see, but I think the odds of it happening are near 100%, so I'm not upset. I just know that we have to be patient.
