I have an old Mickey Mouse lamp from when I was kid, as well as some toys and “Baby Minnie” birthday cards.
As for now…I know someone who took a Disney college class and she had a cool textbook from it. I have it and read it now and then— it covers early animated movies, up until the late 60s. I wish it talked about some from the Disney Renaissance, like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, but it has a lot of cool art and behind-the-scenes stories.
Also, they brought actual deer in the studio to draw Bambi! (They did this later with lions during The Lion King.)
I was passed down a set of Disney China that my grandpa got my uncle back in the 1970s from one of his many port stops in Japan. The box it’s in is beat up, but the China itself is still in good condition and you can still see characters from movies like 101 Dalmatians on it. It’s probably worth a lot now.
As a little kid, I loved to dress up as Winnie the Pooh and still have my old costume lol. I also have a Sebastian plush and Woody and Buzz Lightyear dolls.
I’ve got several Disney themed music boxes in my collection. Two of them (maybe four as I’m not sure as they don’t have any company markings on them) are from a company that closed in the mid 90s and made many Disney music boxes and are still popular among collectors. The company was called Schmid and I have two of their Aladdin music boxes. They also made this really cool and rare music box of the Mayor from Nightmare Before Christmas but it rarely shows up on eBay and when it does, it costs over $300 plus shipping due to rarity. What’s so cool about it is that the body rotates in one direction as What’s This plays and the head turns the opposite way. Another favorite Disney music box of mine is the Enesco Little Mermaid Ariel on a rock glitter globe that plays Part of Your World. The reason I like it so much is because the pose Ariel is making on the rock is very similar to another music box that Schmid had made that also played Part of Your World. The Schmid Disney music box I’m hoping to buy next is the one of Belle in her pink winter dress that plays Something There. I really like it because you don’t see too much official merchandise that has her wearing that dress and cape. Schmid also made a wooden jewelry box of the Wardrobe from Beauty and the Beast which is also love to have as she is one of my favorite characters from the movie. I saw that at an antique store but I’m saving some money to buy it as the price is a firm $80.
