Anyone successfully transfer their entire island to a new Switch?

I'm looking at trading in my current Switch (it's an original that I literally got the day it came out) for a new ACNH-themed one, but I keep reading horror stories about people losing their entire islands and having to start from scratch even if they use the Island Transfer software from Nintendo. I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully moved their entire island from one Switch to another without losing any data or progress, and if you have any tips/advice on how to do it so there aren't any issues. Thank you so much for your help!

The people losing their islands are the ones who're not following the instructions properly. This video explains the process well enough, it is very straight forward as long as you don't rush:

i successfully transferred my island to my new switch (like you, i transferred from the original model to the animal crossing version), and i had no issues!! i believe i used this guide to transfer. like the user above stated, just follow the steps correctly and you should be fine!
