Like, I wasn’t sure I was gonna like them, because they felt limited. But now that I’ve been to some and reading other people’s experiences, they’re so useful! They’ll be great to collect more resources limited to seasons! And to get additional gyroids :)

If the chance to get special islands was higher, or if there was anything interesting at all on the common ones, I would. So far they're about as annoying as the old ones.

Really, the biggest issue is that the common islands have nothing to offer.

Eh I am indifferent. So far I've been finding nothing by Gyroid fragments and I haven't found anything interesting.

For anyone just starting up the game or for someone who restarted like me, the islands do serve some purpose in a way because if you get to a seasonal island you get a chance to collect materials or diys you weren’t able to collect before because you didn’t play that season yet. Same goes for collecting fish and bugs that are out of season to complete your museum. This is especially great for people who don’t like time traveling. But for those who have completed diys and catalogs, I understand how these islands won’t do much for them.

I like the interesting ones, but the common ones without new crops or special resources are a letdown. At least with the Dodo islands, I could get recipes AND a furniture item, whereas Kapp’n’s offers only a gyroid frag and DIY if you are lucky.

They're mildly interesting for someone who has been playing since launch. I think they would've been more fun if I was a new player or had restarted. I think the worst part about them is that they're completely random, so even if you want a particular seasonal material or fish, you don't know if you'll actually get that. You can only visit them once per day too.

So far I've only been to normal islands. No new crops, no new bushes, no moss, no vines. It's been a disappointment so far. (I don't time travel.)

I'm too attached to my island to reset but I've been thinking about getting a Switch Lite and starting a new island. I think the update and DLC would be a great experience on a brand new island.

For sure. So many hassles were addressed by the update. Reese and Cyrus being able to customize the items is a godsend. You no longer have to trade for color variations. The storage shed and the ABDs placed anywhere will make designing islands a breeze. The new items are sooooo beautiful and inspiring you can easily settle on a theme just by seeing them. Not to mention they reduced relocation fees to just 10k bells now instead of 50k.

I haven’t played yet, but from what I’ve seen the “normal” islands feel like a cop out.

Like seriously, the point of going on these trips should be to find something new and/or interesting—a regular island just isn’t that, and instead seems like a waste of time. I don’t know why they keep including these with increased odds. It just screams lazy, uninspired design to me.

I found wheat on a mystery island yesterday and today I got to visit an island in winter. I personally think they’re a lot of fun when you want out of season materials but I honestly want to come across the shooting star and mysterious islands. I need more star fragments and I want the new witchy/magical items I’ve seen floating around on various social media sites. 😂

To be fair though, completing your DIYs ánd catalog is a pretty insane goal that I think almost nobody has completed except for a few players who are really avid TT'ers and online traders. So I actually think it's a great way for almost anyone else to get some harder-to-get DIYs for example. I rarely get new ones from villagers crafting but so far every island has given me something I didn't have yet.

I like the ones that have more to offer, especially the meteor shower one that has star fragment rocks (I think these islands offer zodiac/space DIYs). :) Most of the time they're boring, but at least the islands with crops let you harvest/dig up them up. That's how I got the crops I was still missing because Leif wasn't selling them at the time. There's also that new island with the vines, moss, and new bush. Those at least have DIYs specific to those materials.
