Hi All,

I am hoping against hope that someone can tell me if there is any way at all to add a scorpion & Tarantula to my museum to complete the insect section without catching them myself.. As I am sat here typing this I am on a mystery island where I saw one and went running even without an equipped net lol My phobia about these bugs is so bad that I don't equip my net after 7pm in the game and caught all the other night bugs on trees by a quick equip of the net and then putting it away immediately but the thought of something chasing me or me approaching them even slowly actually makes me feel physically sick so I despair I will ever be able to finish my museum because of it. If anyone knows of a workaround to this issue I would be truly grateful..

there may be a workaround to this by possibly having a friend bring over the critter and place it on your island for you? i'm not entirely sure how that would work as i've never needed to do that before.

however, you could always just try and catch them yourself. i completely understand your phobia and it is 100% valid, but this is also just a game. even if the creature does get to you, the worst that will happen is your character will respawn and you'll have a short delay in finding another one to catch. they are quite easy to catch if you know how to do it properly. if not, i can totally help!

i wish you luck, as i don't know anyone else who has had this issue <3

I don't believe it's possible as bugs and fish are unable to be dropped. If you have a friend or other trusted person that could borrow your Switch, you could ask them to catch those bugs for you and donate them to the museum.

Hi mouthrat,

Thanks for the info I did have a friend bring them over to my island (sorry I forgot to mention that) but I could not pick them up or do anything with them. I just wanted to add that I completely understand my fear is totally irrational but it feels so real to me and if there was a way I could accept your kind offer of help believe me I would take it without hesitation lol

amemome

I actually never thought of that before but I don't think anyone else can donate to the museum unless there is something I am missing as would I not incur the same issue trying to take them from my friend once they caught them even on my island? as in not being able to pick them up from the friend that caught them to donate them to the museum? I hope other players may have more info on this as I would like to find a way as everything else in my museum has been done...

Unfortunately you will have to
catch them yourself since only people living on your island can donate to the museum. What amemome means is have someone play as your character and have them catch the scorpion and tarantula for you.

Oh lol azurill silly me

Of course you mean someone playing on my own physical switch as my own character haha This could take me some time as hardly any of my RL friends own a switch or play animal crossing but at least now I have an idea of how I can get this done eventually which I did not have before so thank you so much everyone for your info and comments they are very much appreciated.

it's no problem, everyone has fears so i don't blame ya

however, the solution that azurill provided would definitely work. i saw you mentioned none of your IRLs play animal crossing, but i'm sure you could quickly familiarize them with what to do and it would be overwith quickly enough.

good luck! <3

I hope it works for you . I understand your fear of them I don’t like them either or wasps.

I remember this panic feeling when I tried catching them in way back in Wild World lol. It’s not so bad when you catch a lot of them though. Just keep trying. :)

Thanks Dim,

I waited almost an hour on a mystery Island knowing one was around and even dug holes in the sand as shown on a you tube video to catch it but in the end I went back to my island without trying lol

there might be an easy solution for you on this, even if youre afraid of the insects that youre trying to catch. in my experience the scorpions and tarantulas WONT attack you unless youre carrying the net in your hand. just dont carry the net! and when you see one of the offending critters, stay away from them a little ways, pull out the net and SNEAK up to them. they wont attack you if youre far enough away, and they will notify you when you get close enough to catch them. just sneaky feet up on them :)

Thanks xxcodexx,

I might give things a more serious try the more desperate I get lol however for now I am trying to think of someone who will come play on my switch and catch them for me as my own character-)

Just a little trivia, when you’re trying to catch tarantulas or scorpions approach them slowly with your net when they’re on their legs and then stop for a bit when they raise up and hiss. Don’t move until they finish. After hissing they will be on their legs again and you can creep nearer to them again. They’ll again raise up and hiss, you should stop again and not move. Do it little by little until you’re near enough to net them and once they’re on their legs again, net them. :)

hahaha aww!! theyre not as scary as all that once you know how they act. theyve literally scared the crap out of me before when theyve hidden behind trees and an unsuspecting me has run by with my net out LOL!
they do only make you pass out though so its not That bad really.
