I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to grow my bangs out. It's a tough decision to make, especially since I've had them for eight plus years now. Don't get me wrong, they're not too bad, but I don't like trimming them and I rather save my money for food and other important things and not pay someone else to cut them. So just curious about what other people who have them think. Is it worth it to you having them? Do you like them and are not annoyed with trimming them yourself or having someone else do it for you?

Now is probably the best time to experiment with new styles since you will likely be just a tiny 1inch wide image on someone's monitor and you probably don't have the some high quality webcam.

I had bangs when I was younger but I hated the upkeep and it constantly getting in the way of my glasses and vision does not help. Like seliph said, if you don't like it, just cut it. But there is an awkward period where it won't look good until it's long enough.

I had bangs when I was really young but grew them out in high school. There was a very awkward stage when growing them out where I couldn't do anything with them and just had to brush them to the side, but they still didn't quite fall into place with the rest of my hair. I don't regret it at all, though, and haven't looked back since. I wear glasses and the bangs were always getting in the way. Plus, I'm very lazy about getting haircuts so I didn't like all of the upkeep that bangs required.

If you think you might prefer not having bangs, I suggest giving it a try. Especially now, it's probably the best time for dealing with the awkward growing out phase. If you find out you really miss your bangs, you can always cut them again.

For me it depends on hair type. If you have naturally straight hair it works. Mine is wavy so I'm constantly straightening them and it's just too much of a hassle for me. Plus I have a naturally oily forehead so it made me break out having them. My hair grows out really fast so getting them trimmed was annoying due to the frequency.

I like them but they're too high maintenance for me. I'd just think about if styling them is too much work.

Thanks guys for the input. All of you made some good points and a lot of them is actually the reason why I'm not too fond of them anymore. Mine grows fast too and I've tried cutting them on my own, but it's becoming a real hassle, plus, I suck at it royally. I'll go ahead and try again to grow them out once more and try to be a little more patient. If I don't like it, I can always get them again like you guys said. Thanks everyone!

Also, if anyone else wants to comment, feel free! 🙂

As others said, you can always trim them back in, if you don't like how you look without them.

It is a hassle growing them out, though. That in-between stage where they aren't quite long enough to tuck behind your ear is the worst. Pick up some small hair clips to keep them out of your face, or maybe a hairband, if they're long enough.

I don’t regret growing out my bangs. They’re easier to style and suit me better.

But I’m not you, and you have to decide if it’s worth it or not.

I gave myself bangs a few weeks ago and I like how they look after drying them right after a shower, but later in the day they'll straighten out a bit and start getting in my eyes, and I don't wear a headband or anything when I wash my face so they're always getting wet which ruins the soft/fluffy bangs look. I ended up buying bobby pins to push them to the side and now I'm waiting for them to grow out a bit so I can cut/style them into curtain bangs or something.

So I'd say grow them out! You can always cut them again if you start to miss them 😊

like others have suggested, i would grow them out and see if you like them. if you don’t, you can always cut them. for me, personally, bangs are definitely worth it; they’re super cute + they boosted my self confidence a bit, too :)

As someone with a really long/tall forehead yes. Also maybe learn to trim them yourselves or maybe ask someone you know to do it for free/cheap?

i've been fringe free for like 8+ years now or something, i've always regretted them every single time HOWEVER i keep searching up hairstyles with long shaggy fringes and i just think they look so chic so now i'm really tempted again aaaaaaaa

omg this is my exact thought !!

I used to have bangs for a long time and got sick of them and grew them out. I keep thinking I should go back to it but then I stop myself bc of how much maintenance goes into keeping them looking good 😔 but they’re so cute and I’m always tempted

Temptation is really hard... That's why I've been struggling the last couple of years now. They're just way too cute, but the maintenance is killing... ;-;

I use to have bangs when I was little, but not like the cute kinda bangs more so the Asian kid bowl haircut bangs ( ⌯᷄௰⌯᷅ ) I’ve always wonder what I would like look with bangs now that I’m older. I’ve seen some really cute ones when searching for haircut ideas but I’m too scared to go through with any of them. Maybe one day when I have the need for a drastic change. But I agree, it is definitely a lot of maintenance work involved in having and keeping bangs nice. I don’t know if I would ever have the patience for that.

Mog, I just had to look this up and your right, those shaggy fringes do look amazing... Now I'm even more torn and want to keep mine too and just do something different with my hair and keep the bangs... Maybe I should just keep practicing cutting them on my own... I'm soooooo crazy... 🥺

I had bangs until about high school. I got sick of them because of how often they had to be cut. The length I liked them to be and then the length that they felt too long and started to annoy me wasn't very much inbetween. My mom was really good at cutting them exactly how I liked them but starting when I was a teenager she acted annoyed whenever I asked her to do it and I just didn't like the hassle of dealing with begging her to do it.

I think I look best with bangs and generally I like them better, but it's been hard for me to get into the habit of trimming them regularly, and having to buy a new pair of shears every single time the current pair become weak is sort of tiring. I think I generally look fine with grown out bangs too, but that also requires maintaining my eyebrows which is slightly more of a hassle.

i cut mine myself and it works fine imo. i like the way i look w bangs but i definitely understand wanting to change things up
