Are the new villagers still being hyped and sold for immense amounts of bells/NMT?

I'm wondering if the new villagers (the more popular ones (Judy, Dom, Raymond, Audie, Sherb)) are still fairly popular or if their fanbase has popped down since release?

I would say that they’re still fairly popular. I bought Raymond from someone for 250 TBT and I’m seeing Judy selling for similar amounts. But I’m also seeing quite a few giveaways for Audie though, so maybe the popularity has died down just a little bit.

Thanks for posting, and really?

I really thought giveaways would be more common for all of them at this point...

Was wondering about the same thing actually. I don’t really see many takers on the selling posts in this forum even for the likes of Judy and sherb, so I wonder if the hype/enthusiasm is no longer there? Raymond seems to be quite popular still, though I can’t tell the market value in TBT

You’re welcome! ^^ And yea, I see people still selling Judy and I was desperate for Raymond after wasting 400 NMT searching for him. But I’m seeing less and less people buying them for that much so that’s a thing!

Unfortunately giveaways aren’t more common as they’re still new, hard to get villagers so people will still take the opportunity to sell them if they can. At least that’s what I think. As I said, I still saw about three or two giveaways for Audie and a few for Sherb so maybe the price is starting to reduce a bit. ^^

Last time I checked TBT-NMT was 1;1 but I think TBT has started to be worth MORE than NMT now so I can't really say either.

And when I checked NNN I remember seeing lots of giveaway threads

Right, people still want to make pretty pennies off those villagers, and giveaway threads for Audie really started being more common from what I remember.

You’re absolutely right.

Yeah, Raymond and Judy are holding their value fairly well, but the others are starting to wane in popularity a bit. Aside from popularity, Raymond is notoriously expensive since I think there are more cats than any other species (maybe squirrels have more or about the same, idk) so it's insanely difficult to find him when island hopping.

For Audie specifically, people stopped liking her because she has the fitness hobby and people didn't like her working out as much as she does.

It actually took a few hours for somebody to take Sherb when I gave him away for free.
I think most of the players have found their dreamies already from the start of the game and that’s just gonna happen overtime, like, for example, if you were playing New Leaf in Feb 2020 people weren’t as hyped for the new villagers that came with Welcome Amiibo.

I bought Audie for 55 NNT, Sherb for 120 TBT, and Raymond for 6 million IGB + 30 NMT. I haven’t seen listings for the other new villagers, Reneigh, Cyd,and Megan in forever and I’m not sure about Don.

Oh right, I forgot that fitness hobby thing, seemingly everybody hated that... THAT'S probably why her popularity went down.

Reneigh, Cyd, and Megan weren't very popular to begin with and Dom's been scraping by

They are still relevant up until now but no one is crazy nowadays to offer exorbitant prices for them.

The biggest challenge here is that they are still hard to find in mystery tours. Secondly, they don't have their own Amiibo which prevents these villagers to circulate the market.

I paid a lot for Judy recently. But she's worth every penny! :)

Marshal's amiibo card was in the $50-60 range before NH came out. I'd imagine they would go for that much or more.

I sell AC cards on eBay myself, and 50.00 to 60.00 for Marshal is LOW. Cards I sell in the 50-60ish range are villagers like Pietro or Ketchup.

EDIT: Sorry Nefarious, I didn't realize you said before NH. After it's release the prices of the cards exploded.

No worries, I haven't kept up with the prices since release. Holy cow though, they really did explode! Honestly, I'm kind of not surprised. NH brought Animal Crossing to the mainstream, so there's even more people looking to collect the amiibo cards. If they were hard to find before, I imagine it's a really competitive market now.

That's the exact reason why people started making those 'amiibo coins' for villagers. You can get them for any villager for dirt cheap...problem is, people actually WANT the legitimate amiibo cards for their favorite villagers, so the cards still sell really well.

When the Welcome Amiibo expansion was released, literally just trying to complete the full set for myself, I was basically able to complete an entire second set (had to purchase 2 cards off eBay at the time). I sold that second set back in May for....$830.00USD...
